obviously the OP isn't trying hard enough to find a house.

Just wondering if you actually read the OP by any chance?

Also, I don't really understand why some people seem to think along the lines of 'Oh, I saw a house for sale on X server so that must mean that anyone can find a house if they want to.'
Unless someone is literally doing nothing but teleporting from capitol to capitol non-stop, there is no guarantee you will catch a house for sale if one does open up.

It all depends on your price range (not everyone can afford a mansion,) how often you play, what times you are online, how often you stop to check, and ultimately just plain old luck being the final and most influential deciding factor. You can increase your chances by checking more, but even on my server which is relatively low population and my checking dozens of times a day, I've yet to even see a single plot of any size or location for sale.
