Rather than the camera having a mind of its own, I'd describe this as controlling your character with one hand and the camera with the other. Using both analog sticks together gives you full control. (I'm using a PS4 controller, and am not familiar with the Steam ones. If it's compatible with the game, though, I'm assuming that means it has equivalent buttons/analog sticks.)

You've stated that you don't like the available versions, but could you clarify how you'd like it to work?

I had to cut A LOT out of my opening post due to post length limitations. I want my character to walk forward, facing the direction I specify with the left stick. You get this with Legacy controls. I also want the camera to remain fixed unless I move it. You get this with Standard controls.

edit: As I mentioned in my opening thread, I can get the desired behavior by setting movement type to Legacy and then holding down the right mouse buttons. However, holding down the right mouse button (via a toggle) messes up the UI.
