Extra small idea for Beginning of the game revamp

Gathering and Crafting classes will be removed as an option for choosing a class?

After we choose either DoW or DoH let us choose 2 more options.

"What type Craft would you like to begin with"

    Goldsmith,
    Blacksmith,
    Weaver... etc.

Then once you choose one you will earn a lv1 Crafting Tool when you start the game.

    Then next Option is.

"What type Gatherer would you like to begin with?"

    Fisher
    Logging
    Miner

Once you choose one you will earn a lv1 Gatherer Tool when you start the game.

So basically you gain 3 weapons/items when you start the game

    DoW/DoM
    DoH
    DoL

and any other extra gear you have for Codes.

Edit: Speaking of Codes... we could get another bonus-gear code for preordering FFXIII-2 and FFXIV-Ver2 PS3.

Thumbs up if you like this idea.

How about we just tell you what we think of your idea in a discussion instead of making stupid "like" polls.

Anyways, it's not a bad idea, but it goes against Yoshi's plans for 2.0, which is basically locking you to 1 class for the first 10 levels. Once you hit 10, you'll be allowed to change, but those first 10 levels let you get accustomed to a single class to get you used to the game before adding complications.

So, in short, it clashes with Yoshi's 2.0 plans, and I agree with Yoshi's more gradual tutorial approach to ease you into the game.

Personally I'm both for and against the Idea. When starting as a Gatherer or Crafter you're left with no way to fight until you get some gil raised up. So I think the best way to combat the issue would be to allow people that start as a crafter or gatherer to be able to pick a DoW or DoM as well to help with the start. It can be hard starting out when you don't know where to go or how your gonna be able to fight if you decided to start as a BSM.

I like the idea but I think it could be done in a much more "lore" like way.

For example at the start you are told about various things and for DOW told to go out and battle.

It could also tell you here to go to the guilds to pickup stuff.

Since the level 1 weapons are near useless right away and are cheap as chips, they might as well be free. To help people into the game the "Tutorial" should provide you with one, teach you how to use it, and then off you go on your merry way.

Yoshi on early gameplay in 2.0. Figure it's relevant here.

    Yoshi-P:
Of course. We plan on starting this revision from the moment you start the game. Right now, after you join up with your Adventurer guild you're then lead to do Guildleves and pretty much left all alone after that. Our objective with the new FFXIV is so when new players enter the Adventurer's guild for the first time, he/she will see "?" marks over every single NPC within the guild. By accepting and completing these quests these NPCs have to offer, not only will you familiarize yourself with how the game works, but also receive background information on Eorzea's history and future goals as a player. Doing all these quests will also provide you exp, so you can easily level up a few levels from doing those alone.

We also have plans to change the armory system so they won't be unlocked until a player hits level 10. What we therefore are asking new players to do is to raise their first selected class to level 10 by completing various quests, complete their respective class quests, then finally be allowed the freedom to change into other classes at will. You will also receive a single Mannequin at the same time you complete these quests, so you can dress up your Mannequin with the equipment you had until now and start leveling a new class with other equipments.

Once players reach that point, then they can go to the Guildleve counter and finally be treated as a member in the guild and be issued Guildleves they can then complete.

Touché my little friend, It seems Yoshi-P is already planning on implementing something to ease the start.^^
