Gathering Folklore & Legendary Nodes

I have been a 60 BTN for alittle over 3 weeks. I really dont see any point in getting any red scripts and blue. Can someone please explain the benefits? Also These manuals to unlock legendary nodes cost 99 tokens. Do I have to keep buying them to gather these nodes or they are unlocked forever after I use the manuals? So many questions not to many friends to get answers from please help.

Blue and red scrips give you the opportunity to buy and upgrade gear and tools.
Folklore nodes unlock the rarest and most expensive gathering materials. At least on my server there's a lot of gil to be made by selling those. If your crafting yourself, you will eventually need them to make the latest stuff.
And you only need to get the 99 tokens once.

Currently, there is no point to getting the red script gear for yourself if you have enough gil to buy the Ironworks HQ set. Only use I've had for it would be retainer gear. I still cap reds just in case in the future they become relevant again. Blue Scrips you still want to farm for the Folklore/Legendary unlocks and Hi-Cordials.

Exactly I do have all HQ Ironworks gear, but i understand to keep collecting Blue & Cap red just in case of future content thank you

You can exchange 9 red scrip tokens for 36 blue scrip tokens, so it's a big chunk of the 99 to get your folklore books.

I get my red scrips weekly just because I see absolutely no reason to drop gillions on crafted gear + materia for what little gathering I do. Red scrip gear is decent enough and free.

But I am a stickler. I'm never sure how fast or slow something will outdate so I never want to spend any gil buying it, much less melding it.

If you want to be an avid and serious gatherer, spend your money. But if you want to do it casually or are not really planning on doing any really really high tier gathering, just get your free red scrip gear. You can make gillions by just sending your retainers out and getting things here and there while you get maps, hence why I don't see the need since running node to node is redundantly boring to me. But that's also just me.

Regardless I wouldn't spend a single gil til 3.4....just in case.
