Its really not all THAT bad. Usually there's only 1-2 spots that are right in the middle of the ants. Sure it takes longer but you can still mine a very large chunk of electrum ore / whatever without much problem.

Electrum is good stuff.

If you're doing leves, I tend to go around the northwest for the gather from three spots one to avoid that nest of ants south and west of the aetheryte. Just doing normal grind gathering, I don't seem to run into ants too much though.

the ants arent the only thing that get me crazy (also, im speaking of grinding ore, not leves), it's the ants, plus the damn alumen, plus your skill to find that logging point that lead you inside one of that montains (that usually yoy have to go round it) and sometimes logging point is under floor ... very annoying, i prefer ironlake, even treespeak, but the electrum ore is around halatali and i need it to level up goldsmith now /cry i hate halatali too much xD
