Viera race

I dont get why people think its easy to add a new race. Wow can do it because gear (except hats, shouldergards and belt buckles) is litteraly i texture slapped on the character model. In ffxiv they would have to remodel every single piece of armor for it to work. That much work leads to shortcuts (miqote tails and au ra horns) which you all are going to complain about and want fixed.

Besides, a new race doesnt really make sense lorewise. The au ra were a stretch and still feel distant from the rest of the races.

I dont think it would be feasible to add a new race. Id rather have more interesting armor and foes to fight.

I'm pretty sure races, boss encounters and gear are all designed by different teams. Like you can't ask lawyers to do the work of engineers just because you don't like lawyers. I'm perfectly fine with no new races, but I don't see any reason why not to have them. And if they end up looking interesting I will create a character with them. Or fantasia.

That sounds purposely and unreasonably spiteful. Let me remind you that Heavensward got a new race AND a free Fantasia potion for everyone to change into an Au Ra if they desired (=_=)

They already stated anything they would add would be humanoid because of the development time to make gear fit on the different races.

I myself do want Viera, they have been my favorite race since Final Fantasy tactics and XII. Their lore is awesome.

I'd be fine with Viera not because they're cute bunnies but because they're a nice mix of savage and elegant that no race really has at the moment. Elezen are elegant, but too classy and noble. Roe/Highlanders are tough but in a rough/more human way. The original concept art of female Au Ra was pretty much exactly what I want, but they were turned into small cute waifu bait.

If they introduce another race with the same "feel" as Viera, that isn't Viera, I'd be just as happy. But Viera is already popular and they've shown concept art of them that looks pretty nice, so. I may as well hop on the bandwagon.

You don't know that. They could easily change what they worship to something familiar in xiv. They are attuned with nature. So much that could fit in xiv's lore.

I don't, no. However it's better to make new lore, rather than just copy and paste (be incredibly lazy again) from a world that doesn't exist in FFXIV. We also already have Padjal, Elementals and Duskwights (to an extent) playing the part of "people of the wood."

I'm pretty confident we will get a bunny race, however I strongly doubt we will get Viera. It'll be a new race, with a new name, with new lore, that just happen to look like that. That's what we'll get.

Or we can get HUmmingways. They do exist in Eorzea, they are cute, they are more beast like than Viera. Everyone wins.
