A question about the new apartments

So I heard once before that if you own a house you can not buy a apartment. Well I was wondering what about a FC room? I am on a high population server so I want to sprint and try and get my own spot as fast as I can but I am wondering if a FC room will keep me from not getting it?

SE never said that, so as far as we all know.. You can as of right now. No where in the last LL does it say you can't have both. But we still have part 2 of the 3.4 LL coming up and the patch note, so will have to wait and see.

2nd there will be more then 15000 rooms pre server, I'm sure even on a big server there will be many left over after 1-2 days

Update: After the news ... 6480 is the cap for rooms now. ( Not 15000 or 30000 )

I can't remember where but I remember seeing it said. Maybe on twitter or something. Oh well I am still jumping on at 4am to snag a spot as fast as I can. Balmung is a HUGE legacy server if its open to everyone and 500k isn't too much I think there going to be gone vary quick.

You can own an FC room and a house so I do not see why you couldn't do an apt + an FC room. I can see them not allowing the purchase of an apt if you own a house, that would be redundant and unfair to those who have no housing.

If nothing else, clear your FC room and abandon it, if you are going to get an apt you don't really have a need for it. If you decide later on you really do need an fc room, just rebuy it. 300k is nothing in this game to get.

The apartments are, as I would think, an effort to offer personal living space to those in FCs who could not claim a united house of their own, as even if you're in a FC unless there's a company owned house you can't even have your own room space. So it's a toss up if it acts like a personal space or a full housing space, or both. Could be both. If you want to be on the safe side as much as possibly than consider abandoning your current room just in case.

Players are allowed one apartment per character. Furthermore, it is possible to own both an estate and an apartment.
And in French: Les détenteurs d’une maison (individuelle ou de compagnie libre) ou d’une chambre individuelle auront également la possibilité d’acquérir une propriété de ce genre (One can have an apartment, even if one has a GC/personal house or a room in a GC house).

It also says one building by ward and subdivision, with 90 apartments by building, hence 90x12x2x3 = 6480 apartments?

Yeah, 6,480 seems to be the appropriate number. Fine for all but the highest pop servers. Hopefully they built in a contingency for servers like Balmung and Gilgamesh whose apartments are going to last all of five seconds. Especially with the whole "You can own a house and an apartment".

Its rather frustrating how SE keeps trying to fix the housing problem and they just can't seem to figure out that allowing players to own multiple houses is also part of that problem.

It goes deeper than that too. You should be able to share a house with all characters on the same account on the same server. Some people have 5-7 characters and feel they need a house for every one of them. Lifting the restrictions against same account characters would do a world of good.

I know SE is new to this type of housing but they really need to stop and think things through much more before they implement something like this.

I don't foresee them lifting any restrictions on alts at all with the money they are making on retainers. If nothing else they will try to find a way to capitalize on it further. Really surprised cash shop housing isn't a thing yet tbh
