    Are the devs satisfied w/ the state of FFXIV pvp?

    I'm not asking this to troll. I legitimately would like to know if they have said anything in interviews or press releases that would indicate they feel that FFXIV is headed in the right/wrong direction. I love this game, but I'm a big pvp fan. In my opinion (and I realize it's only that), this game has the worst pvp of any mmorpg I've played, and I've played a whole bunch of them. I'd honestly be encouraged to find out that Yoshi and crew realize that the pvp in this game is lacking and that they are looking and making some drastic changes. I'm not sure that is the case though. Does anyone know or have any thoughts? Thanks.

    I don't think they've really said anything, but they have a team set aside for PVP as far as I know. A part of the problem is the very big lack of interest in the pvp in the game. The game is so heavily focused on PVE that all of the PVP aspects are very shallow.

    They need to clear up some shit first before moving on. They're adding to add, they're not adding to improve and that's the problem. Removing GC restrictions will cut FL wait times drastically. More servers would be inclined to do premades, there'd be more 72s which in turn would attract more people. Especially during down times like now where all the pve content is pretty much dead at least pvp would attract people to play to give them something to do. Add more achievements, get rid of shatter, offer better glamour/gear. It would be great if they'd add a new kill achievement so HoMs have something new to work to. Shatter is the dumbest FL mode in the game. It's a huge waste of time, once people got the mount they didn't care to stay for the title achievement which is saying something. I wasn't a fan of the latest glamour/gear set, but that's just personal preference. They need to keep pvp gear relevant with current gear that'd give people the motivation to play pvp.

    The fact that they are continually making adjustments would indicate to me that they are not, in fact, satisfied. You don't fix what's not broken, after all, and compared to a year ago, SE's commitment is considerably higher than it used to be. I imagine this means that they're not happy with their past efforts and are looking for improvements.

    That said, SE hasn't said much about PvP in recent interviews, and that's mostly because their focus has shifted. Almost every recent interview that Yoshi-p has had concerned upcoming content. 4.0 is being mentioned almost every single time, which indicates to me that their primary concern, right now, is the next expansion. I'm reading between the lines a little bit, but the end of HW is coming and it's not unreasonable of them to be putting more time and resources into that development than focusing on PvP. Though, it is worth mentioning that there are still making additions to PvP in upcoming patches. It's likely that the PvP team have their own plans, but those plans are just vastly overshadowed by the bigger money maker, which is the next expansion.

    Another issue is yes, they are adding too add, but they don't do anything about the old pvp modes that people like, and they die off, and some are still fun, personally I think they should think it through a bit more first and find ways to prevent old pvp content from dying more than it already is in my opinion, pvp was already slow and making new modes that kill everything else and the fact that it happens is quite a bad sign to be honest. It just shouldn't happen.

    I'm not sure what they could possibly do to make multiple maps alive if even a single one doesn't get fast and consistent pops and people intently avoid the roulette in order not to be dumped into a doomed queue. Literally the only thing you can do is to remove the choice which to play from people, because with the given playerbase, only one mode is remotely sustainable at a time here in the NA/EU datacenters.

    Probably 80-90% of all PvP related issues are caused by a low playerbase and as another thread has rightfully asserted, part of the issue is that the only player pool you can draw from is the pool of people who have most likely been attracted to the game by anything but PvP. Though I don't think people are disinclined on principle, seeing how lively Feast was during pre-season. People are or at least were willing to give it a shot - they just didn't stick.

    Well, another option is too stop releasing new modes as well, at least if they don't plan on making old rewards from their respective modes carry over, like seal and shatter for example being the same branch or family of pvp but the rewards do not carry over and I'm still confused why to this day some of the stuff as achievement rewards not counting towards anything if you do shatter as the only active pvp mode in the family., it's a precaution they should be taking assuming they know the old modes die, which by now they should since it happens everytime...lol

    The fact that we still don't have a matchmaking lobby pretty much sums up how much dev time they want to invest for PvP in FFXIV. The most basic and fundamental requirements of any serious pvp mode requires a lobby. If they didn't make pvp a glamour grind and kept the ranks required to equip the newest gear more people will still be playing instead of just getting their gear and stopping. Also, maybe include a prestige system for people who are dedicated to pvp so that they can invest in more AP to eventually max out all their stats after enough prestige ranks. They also need to not make anymore modes like Shatter where its just PvE in a PvP map.

    I agree with removing GC ranks but if they implement the Ishgard GC, maybe they could incorporate a 2v2 GC matchmaking and a 4 GC free for all. I like the idea of representing a GC or "faction" but its just poorly balanced with 3 making most matches a coin flip of who will gang up on who.
