    Ennemity and DPS

    Hi,
I'm a PS4 player so there is no actual way for me to position myself as DPS dealer in raid or EX (no parse on PS4...)
If i want to know if i deal enough damage compared to others, can I rely on the "ennemity ladder" that shows next to team players' name ?
If my name comes second (after MT) or 3rd does it mean I am the one doing more DPS ?
    Thanks for your answers

Good players will use their enmity control skills like quelling strikes or smokescreen and shadewalker so the tank can stay out of tank stance and use their enmity combo less, so no, if you're top of the enmity list it just means you're the worst at controlling your enmity. There's a simple way to tell if you're doing enough damage, if the boss dies and how fast it dies. If you're really worried about your personal dps then try a stone sky sea striking dummy, it's kind of like a pseudo-parser.

Not entirely true if DPS is DRG or MNK.
DRG elusive jump is DPS loss due to positioning change. Thus, it is NERFed into a special situation move only.
MNK just does not an enmity reducer move period.

The enmity bar is the only DPS meter resource available to players without access to a 3rd party parser. The accuracy of the bar is dubious at best because of the enmity reduction moves used by other players.

Most DRGs use elusive jump as gap closers so it's usually going to be used multiple times. There's also the use where self-healing abilities like second wind if overhealing generates the same amount of enmity as any other ability overhealing. There's way too much to be taken into account to use it as a way to place DPS, except for huge differences.

It may not be suuper accurate. But it's a fair indication if you're second and the mob is yellow/ orange it at least shows that you're doing ok. But again. The tank could be bad. So. Not a perfect.

there is a bar beside the job icon in the party list for the enmity, so you don't have to rely on the color in the enemy list. and if you are orange in the enemy list you probably have the opposite of an bad tank. the tank doesn't have to be miles ahead, as long as he keeps the hate it's better to not use the enmity combo, as a drk as example, because spamming the enmity combo is a dps-loss.

    at OP:

you can use this site: http://ffxiv.2digitalgames.de/ to get some dps numbers out of the stone sky and sea dummys.

Not that I'm endorsing parsing because that would be wrong oh yes! But I hear that a PC player can parse other people as well as themselves. So it's possible to ask one for help in gauging how well you do, though of course you wouldn't because that's taboo here, right?

I don't believe DPS checks are as important to Midas as they were in Gordias; the main difficulty most groups face now is in coordination.

Focus on your raid awareness, prioritize staying alive and helping your team, and optimize your rotation after all that, and you'll be fine. Don't rely on a single number to tell you how well you're doing, because that number can't tell you how much avoidable damage you took, how much your debuffs helped the raid, or how many stacking mechanics you helped the group endure.
