    Bard Question

So I've always thought this myself, but I've heard differently from a few people and I figure I'd just try to get a definitive answer out of you guys.

For simplicity's sake, lets just say each dot does 10 damage each tick when not used in WM, and when in WM it does 13.

If I were to apply my DoT's outside of WM let it tick once for 10, and then use Iron Jaws, would that then up the potency to 13 per tick upon refresh? or would it continue ticking for 10?

It refreshes, it doesn't reapply them. They'll be at the same potency as the moment you applied. Best to have WM up first.

See I heard the other way around. That it refreshes at your current status. So your next set of dots would have higher potency.

Especially regarding blowing all your cooldowns on buffs, then applying dots, that when you use iron jaws you do not refresh the damage boost from the dots, and get the base dmg back.

    This one ^

If it worked the other way, you could have perma-buffed dots with raging strikes b4b and hawk's eye just by making sure you refreshed the dots with IJ every time.

It takes a current snapshot of whatever your buffs are when you use Iron Jaws.
    So you'd want WM up.

Eventually anyhow. I assume the OP wants to not use WM at first, so that they remain mobile and can get it up a lil faster and then ease into WM once the fight 'stabilizes?'

Anyhow, there really isn't much reason to not have WM active at fight start. I mean we can get into debates about DPS and stance dancing.. but in the end.. its not really going to matter unless your team is 'that' close to barely making a dps check.

As other have said, it snapshots all damage modifiers you have up at the moment of Iron Jaws, so the ticks would go up to 13 in that scenario.

Yeah, also some of us try to clip our DoTs when using our buffs, because you technically get a little more potency out of reapplying them with 2 or 3 tics left with the buffs than let them run their full potency and reapplying them unbuffed

sorry for the late reply, but thanks for the answer guys. I'm trying to get back into Bard since I've gotten into raiding.. and after running through midas savage and ex primals I need a Pali break from time to time.

Also yes, this is the reason I was asking, though I meant more of starting the fight by using my two DoT's then using WM, refreshing and continuing as normal
