Honestly they're not going to do anything about the inventory space. Everything listed above would be EXCELLENT ways to deal with any and all inventory issues, but that would lose them money from retainer sales.

They want your inventory full to bursting. They want you to have a mental breakdown when that one piece of loot you've been farming drops and your inventory is full. They want you to have to stress out as you struggle to decide which glamour item to throw away so you can make room for something new. They want you to beat yourself up because you threw out crafting mats that you didnt know you were going to need, and now you do. They want you to be enraged when you accidentally sell all your beast tribe tokens to an npc vendor.

Because the more upset you get, and annoyed, and irritated, the more likely you'll purchase additional retainers. The problem will never get fixed, because the problem is intentional.

This game uses lots of Square Enix' mobile-free-to-play-game practice such as FFBE or FFRK. The difference is in the free to play games you keep, in this game you only rent. But both are designed to siphon as much money as possible.

inventory space space is designed to be used up fast, the devs say it's hard to increase your space due to memory issues, but you can pay 2 dollars extra per month to rent more. Up to 6 times.

Weekly cap is basically the energy system, every 10080 minutes your energy replenishes. Instead of regenerate for free, it's taken out of your sub.

The end game is items, a simple line of code. They are gated behind RNG or gil, more likely RNG. RNG gates lots of the core game components such as gears, crafting, weapon upgrades, materia melding, etc. Participating raids and extremes are none RNG on paper, but RNG in practice. Because they require people, and people are unpredictable. Once you complete main story, the game will mainly use the dailies and RNG formula to keep you playing, there will be new contents, new bosses, and new events. But the main game is still RNG, just like SE's other mobile free to play FF games.

Now that's established, I did remember reading somewhere the inventory space is due to increase. I wouldn't be surprised even if they introduce additional inventory space, it'll be behind a real cash paywall. It's going to be something cute like Fat Chocobo's S/M/L/XL/XXL Item Sack. The sack is free, but to summon the fat bird you need to buy a one time purchase of (insert name) greens with IRL money, different green for different size of course.

I'm looking at all these hints, veteran rewards frequency, mog station exclusive, eternal bonding packages, jump potion. The devs are nudging, test the water out, see what they can get away with, and they are patient. They won't do anything obvious, but they are conditioning people. After all water can pierce rocks given enough time and persistence.

This 100% Nice to see im not the only one who notices this. It shocks me that people lap up the stuff in the cash shop at those extortionate prices. And now whenever someone requests something its "please add x and y to the cash shop" not the game that you already pay for?

We already have systems in place; achievements, achievement points, mgp, other currencies that can be used.

I was actually tempted to purchase a retainer, checked them out and then realised they're a rental subscription and not a one-time purchase, that's a concrete "no" for that kind of purchase in my book.

I love your idea that the developers are testing the waters to see exactly what people will pay for, and people are flinging money at anything and offering to pay more and more (for example the Chinese gear) at some point these same people will suddenly think "hang on a minute" and realise we are getting charged again for things we are already paying for in our sub, or they will suddenly not be able to pour the same amount of cash in and feel locked out.

We have already proven that we will swallow any price on anything they put in the cash shop and so have encouraged the devs to put more and more in there. It's so sad and discouraging.

My argument about the cash shop has always been that everything should be available in game first and the cash shop should ONLY be used for people to catch up. Every item they put in there pushes my further away. Sadly I'm in the minority.

So many threads that seem unaware they have said more inventory space is coming, think they said 3.4.

    4.0

We have another year to go. Don't forget, the expansion will include a host of new glamour, materials and etc. So unless they do open up the armoire more, the lack of inventory space could become an issue down the road. Depends on how much space they give us.

Not necessarily. If you're a crafter, those additional 20 market slots can be more valuable than the space.

The cash shop is fine. There is nothing in the cash shop that is needed. It is ALL optional stuff, fluff and nothing. If folks want to throw their money away buying fluff and nothing, more power to them. It's kind of hilarious, listening to folks whine about how they MUST have this or that glamour, and how unfair it is that SE makes them pay real money for it. There are THOUSANDS of wonderful glamour options available in-game - but folks focus on the few in the cash shop like they're the only clothing in the world.

The paid retainer system is much more sketchy, as it confers distinct in-game benefits beyond just inventory space (extra Retainer ventures, extra marketboard slots). Complaining about that is justifiable; the cash shop, imo, is not.

On the topic of the Armoire, and whether it should be able to hold more items than it does, remember that a big design goal for this game was to exploit every possible opportunity to encourage folks to re-run old content. If an item can be re-acquired by grinding Sastasha (Hard), by golly they want you to grind Sastasha (Hard) - not just pluck it out of your Armoire. It is for this very reason that all those Primal furnishings were destroyed if you ever removed them. While they eventually changed their minds on that one, the original intent was to keep folks running Ex Primals. Tired of that gaudy Leviathan fountain on your lawn? Go ahead and remove it - and if you want it back again, be ready to spend some more quality time with Levi Ex! SE WANTS you to throw out your old glamour items, and if you decide later you want them back, to run the old content to replace them. Putting every possible piece of gear in the Armoire would undermine that goal.

The purpose of the Armoire is to hold gear that is NOT replaceable. Stuff where there is no dungeon you can grind to replace it, no tomestone you can buy it with. Every piece of gear in the Armoire either is, or used to be, something where if you dropped it on the ground, you would never see it again, ever. I don't see that changing, even if SE gives the glamour system the overhaul it so desperately needs.
