FFXIV Appreciation Thread

I feel like a lot of players in the community are in a negatively fixated state at the time being. It has its reasons, and believe me when I say that I truly do understand. I just have one issue, I think we're being too negative. I feel like instead of just looking at the bad, we should look at the good things too, because it's making the community feel a little hostile. What are some of your favorite things In the game right now? What kinds of things do you appreciate that the Dev team is doing, or have already done?

I appreciate your attempt to recover the games monotony of grinding with PoTD. It shows promise if you avoid trying to make the dungeons more simplistic for the sake of adding some item that requires us to run the same higher floors or at least allowing a lvl50 stage skip when you add the 100th floor. Also I appreciate your Yokai Watch event which warmed me up for ATMA Relic, I really needed that. <--- that part was sarcasm. The patch was ok. PoTD seems to be the best part so far. Please build on it and make it more active. Puzzles, hint hint.

Ignoring the bads just to highlight the good doesn't make it worth appreciating. Sonic 06 is a badddd game, but I still have fun in it just for playing as silver or messing with Sonics light blue gem....I think that's the one that you throw, i can't remember.... Anyways I don't appreciate half made games, that game was rushed, I payed 60 bucks on that, but what I do appreciate is SEGA's admittance that the game was rushed and flawed. Some people just say the game is good and thats it. I don't buy that, no offense to Silver (love you Silver X) )

Anyways 14, there's bads and goods. I won't stop focusing on the bads because while theirs goods, the bads still are noticable but since this is an MMO that can be frequently updated as most MMOs then its the designers choice to leave the bads. If the bads are not counterracted or at least acknowledged with reasons (usually reasonable ones) as to why they're this way then its a blatant flaw. Those who ignore them are just being fans of the game, which is cool, but doesn't give reason as to why some patch should be appreciated. To add to PoTD, that mode is good for some reasons, not all. I don't think randomly placed traps are worthy of praise. Genius traps like trip wires you can see or panels you can notice if you look closer that are protruding from the ground, Thats worthy of praise. Not randomly placed traps, thats lazy. Yeah the item, w/e, thats also lazy. I'll explain why if someone asks but anyway,

Randomly generated dungeons, I love it! What I don't love is that all of it plays the same. Kill few mobs, open chests, exit, kill more mobs, silver chests, exit, Its all the same, where they could've took the extra mile by adding more innovation. Random generated levels is no new feat, to the devs maybe, but not others. They could've added randomly generated keys for doors you have to find, levers, timed bombs to defuse (maybe toss in a river or something), secret pathways, they're just adding more of the same from current dungeons we usually see but in a concealed, shifting space. Sorry for the long rant again. Anyways that's what I meant.....I wonder is Sonic 06 could be patched....

• Looks wonderful
• Plays well
• Is not hard to pick up.
• Has something for everyone.
• Has so much to do it would take a new player a very long time to exhaust it.
• Well supported with frequent updates and patches.
• The devs actually listen.
• The producer really cares, so much so it has brought tears to his eyes

• Crafting and gathering are almost separate games.
• The Gold Saucer is just for fun, nothing serious

I'll add in that I absolutely loved PotD. The traps, unorthodox parties, and moments of "Ooops!" made the runs far more enjoyable than any dungeon since... Vault? I really hope they continue to add onto it, but please add more environment. Caves and ruins are nice, but for 4.0 please make it outdoor at least for a few floors.

I really like how the later ARR+HW stories are getting into political discourse and conspiracy. I love those kinds of stories and it leaves me hungry for more.

It's also the little things that do it for me. The way those Vanu Vanu dance with might, getting minions from beating a Fate boss, and those one-off, silly quests/side stories that make me smile. While it has its flaws, it also had a lot of heart put into it, imo.

-Primals fights (gives us more primals) and make them mandatory to move forward in the story
-Housing (give us a ship for private houses and I will be in heaven)

everything is nice..could it be adjusted ? yes....but is still nice the diversity is nice, the choices we have on what we can play is great. The downfall? people...they forget to be a community.

I dont care if someone leaves FFXIV. Real fans will stay, anyone else will come back in a few months.

Glamour is super fun and I love it, I've also met some really great people and made great friends so I'm happy for that too.
