Earthbound was amazing! It first released with a guide even if you rented it at blockbuster you got a guide with it. Years later I played it through again and discovered all the little quirks like standing in the waterfall for several minutes, everything you need to know can be discovered from talking to npc's.

FF6 was great in every way. If anyone out there loved FF6 and you haven't tried FF5 you should!

    Edit:
Forgot to mention. FF5 and FF3 are very difficult compared to FF6. It makes FF6 seem like a pre school game holding your hand the whole way. I really enjoyed the difficulty though and getting to play older style rpg's again.

Finally I have to say this... I hated FF4 After years and would not recommend it to anyone. The version I played though was the DS pc version I think that has a lot to do with it. I would have loved it more playing the 2D version but it's not sold on square enix store or steam.

What killed FF6 for me was actually the very end when you ascend Kefka's tower, I never bothered beating the game even though I got as far as that. Why? Because I absolutely refused to go and level up and gear up three parties of characters to tackle the final dungeon. I had a very specific team I liked to use and had absolutely no interest in playing any other. Now, if they had made it like the first sets of party splitting fights (where one really powerful party could handle all the enemies) thenit would have been fine.

But having to do that last grind made me completely give up on the game.

I remember going to a Kay Bee Toys store when Earthbound came out and tried to use that scratch and sniff coupon for $10(?) off. The employee didn't know what to do with it since it wasn't registering, nor did the store manager, so they just gave me the discount anyway lol. Did not know Blockbuster actually gave the guide too for rentals. That's pretty cool. Looked through that guide all the damn time. Was a fun read through even if you weren't playing the game. Thing broke apart eventually lol.

I love the single player FF games.
My favourites are VII, X, and V.
VIII holds a special place in my heart for being my first FF and first RPG though it is flawed in a lot of ways.

FF6 is my absolute fav.... I love it. Always will be my favorite FF.

I also love FF7. I know people go "oh it's so overrated" and in a sense, yeah it is, since people like to put it on a pedestal fit for a god and it's like. okay it's good but...calm down.

I'll defend Cloud though with my last breath. Leave the poor boy alone he just needs some hugs, a blanket, and a good cup of cocoa.

I also love 12, 10, Crystal Chronicles (SQUEENIX. ANOTHER ONE PLEASE!!!!!), 3, 4.... I still am trying to play through 8 I'm so sorry I just. I want to punch Squall in the face every time I see him. Quistis, you're too good for him. Get away from him.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
    Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME

I`ve always thought of Final Fantasy VI as the most overrated of the bunch. It is good, as any Final Fantasy is. In a way i can understand why some would thought VII is the very best but VI...? Is completely overrated.

As for my personal favorite, nothing comes near Tactics (The Lions War in PSP) and Final Fantasy XII. Tactics, even with its localization, still has probably the best storyline of the whole franchise and gameplay wise, XII is the peak of the series offering the most diverse experience between exploration, challenge, freedom, customization, etc. XII basically gives you a whole open world map, controllable fight engagement and a combat system so superb you get satisfaction of just figuring out how to program a fight. I guess both games appeal to a more "tactician" minded player that likes to know all variables and prepare in anticipation to the more reactive gameplay style under the rule of the all mighty RNG combat rolls.

This actually is no longer true (and hasn't been true for quite a while), and is obviously taken from long outdated information. When the game was originally announced as the spinoff game FF Versus XIII way back in circa 2006 it of course was planned to be directly part of Fabula Nova Crystallis, but after SE announced that it was being changed to become a mainstream FF title (FFXV), SE decided to shear it of it's Fabula Nova Crystallis connections and created a whole new independent mythology, ideas and setting (the last few FNC connections removed was the goddess Etro which was my understanding). Either way, FFXV no longer is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis games and is now it's own independent mythology.

As for Type-0, it's an interesting game that was massively let down to me by a horrid control system including a lack of a hard camera lock, and a first mission that seemingly starts off as a tutorial, then suddenly ramps up the difficulty and throws you into the deep-end. So the balance was all over the place.

Which is a shame as it's definitely the better interpretation of the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology.

It will, as a horrible mobile port that skips, jumps, bumps, cuts and goes wonky cause SE cannot for the life of them put any effort into a decent pc port of any ff title.

fixed that for you seriously I have no idea why vii gets so much love, cloud is a whiney lil kid and seph is just a guy with a mommy issues and both wield swords of major overcompensation

LOLL Squall is like Cloud in a way. He starts out as a jerk and the character development goes from there.

I'm super curious how Noctis from FF15 is going to be. I've heard it's a coming of age kind of character development.
