This post needs to be liked more. It's my exact stance on this matter and people shouldn't be so ready to dismiss it for the sake of avoiding consequence.Ask yourself this.
"Are the words I'm putting in this Maceo representative of what I would say anytime I use this"
If yes: Then ask. "Would saying this to anyone be offensive in any context."
If yes: Maybe don't use it as a macro because you understand flinging insults willy nilly isn't a good habit.
If yes but you feel people are too touchy: Examine your bridge as you haven't been collecting enough toll lately.
Of course they can, I've seen some funny ones, like "no sleeping on the job" and someone even used a Aqua Teen Hunger Force as their Marco it was "Arise chicken...Chicken Ariseeeeee" and a South Park quote "Dying is bad mkay." But I've also seen some where they said "Looks like I have to slap some sense into you, get up" and at one point a player took Smokey the Bears qoute and changed it to "Only you can prevent dying idiotically"
Those last two imply that it's entirely your fault, which in some cases it might not even be so, on a shareable stack mechanic the player you're supposed to stack with might run away from you, if you're tethered they might just stand there thinking you'll break the chain, I can think of others but the point is not every death is entirely on the player.

My rezz macro is "unlike your dad I'm willing to raise you, <t>" and occasionally I get angry daddy issue messages.
So yes, it is extremely possible.
Yeah uh... While context is always important, you saying something that someone could easily attribute to their own lives is really irresponsible on your part.
Like, in general, it's an actual documented, scientifically researched fact that words have an effect on people's behavior. People need to be aware of that and stop throwing garbage around for the sake of making a crappy "joke."
Okay, I get that people want to have a "fun" and "creative" raise-macro, but why isnt it possible to come up with one that isnt offensive? Something implementing that the person you raised sucks is the best you can do? Really?
Specially in the example the OP has given I can totally understand why that healer was pissed - not his fault he died when it was adds killing him off and well, if his co-healer is making fun of his dead... they might want to solo-heal the rest...
Having a fun macro is great and everything (if I ever get to write one, I'm gonna quote some lines of Doctor Who) but if the only thing you can come up with, is some sort of an insult, thats pretty lame. Its not about people being easly offended or politcal correctness, its about respect for your fellow players. Cheerful, jokinly insults can be great among friends who know each other and thats where they belong - you're not funny when you're doing that with strangers, you're just rude.
Now that I think about it, the type of macros that the thread is referring to...they kinda sound like the healer is trying to pass the blame from themselves and onto the person who died.
I suppose the solution to this problem would be to have your own macro handy, just in case you run into that type of healer. Something like...
"Healer, drink a Redbull and stay focused."
"I'm not saying it's your fault that I died, but you fail at keeping me alive."
"If you have enough time to read this macro, you have enough time to hit me with some Cure"
"A Priest & Rabbi walk into a bar.... - Don't let me die again, and I will tell you the punchline to that joke"
To put it this way:
When I get "game over" in a single player game, I can get really annoyed and at worst I'll slap my thigh and try again.
When my brother gets "game over" in a single player game, he will get really angry and at worst he'll throw the controller. He usually needs a break before he can be bothered to try again.
In your many dungeons runs you will meet a lot of people who laugh at their own failings, and you will meet a lot of people who get really pissed at themselves or others when they die. The latter might not take offence at your "funny" macro in itself, but it's fuel on the fire for someone who is already annoyed.
Yes. Yes it is. Last week I was running Sohr Khai for expert and used my Benediction macro in it, which read "oh s***" in block letters.
10 minutes after leaving the dungeon a GM summons me to the Gaol.
Probably cuz of the wording. Macros like that are only used for randoms pugs. Because raiders dont need a macro like that since they are communicating via voice chat or already have a rez order system in place. That macro doesn't bug me, but the text seems troll like due to the plz. Its like "plz, newbie stop dying. Casting raise!" which makes it the 1st shot fired. And they got butt hurt. Lol
