Is it possible to offend someone...with a macro?

I used to have a funny macro, too. But it can get annoying if people keep on dying (such as Weeping City, etc) so I just have a simple Raising <t> macro mostly to inform the other healers that <t> is already being raised.

healing macros I find are hilarious "just a min,turning ____ into a zombie" but its when that raise macro turns into spam it starts to piss everyone off or just generally annoy the party. there are usually healers who are quite tame throwing out the text macros thats alright but then you got those 5 sentence text macros with the <sec.6> that just keep filling the chat during Weeping City usually from Summoners.

I was in a group the other night, and the healers macro when picking up one of the dps was something like "{targets name} As comical as you look on the ground, I need you to get up and get your shit together"

And a few nights ago when I died in group, the healers macro was "{targets name} Get up. Your suppose to be important"

Tho they are probably not meant to offend, I do think they can bring down the groups morale....and considering the healer is suppose to keep group members from getting killed, a better macro might be something like "Sorry you died under my watch. I'll try not to let it happen again."

Ask yourself this.

"Are the words I'm putting in this Macro representative of what I would say anytime I use this"

If yes: Then ask. "Would saying this to anyone be offensive in any context."

If yes: Maybe don't use it as a macro because you understand flinging insults willy nilly isn't a good habit.

If yes but you feel people are too touchy: Examine your bridge as you haven't been collecting enough toll lately.

Makes me think back to the XI days with my rez macro. "[Raise] <t>" Sweet, simple, and only intended to let other players know that I'm hitting them with it so they don't have to waste time/MP lol.
