    lalafell? Roegadyn? Elezen? .....highlander?

    What were the Mhaci ?
I'm going to rule out Hyur Midlander since I think they didn't migrate until after the flood.

In the past it was thought (or at least I thought) that they were mainly all Lalafell until Void Ark came along and then I started to think otherwise.

The statues in Void ark are very tall and Hyur.

Also, the Mhach Zombies you see in the Weeping city and Amdapor City(hard) are also Hyur.

Now if the Hyur didn't migrate until much later how are all the Mhach Hyur? Were they maybe Hyur Highlanders? I mean Ala Mhigo is pretty close to The Black Shroud. Maybe
there were Highlanders that were in the Shroud and Mor Dhona during this time. (?)

Calofisteri is another puzzle of mine, Shes so Tall!! Her card says that she was a Mhach Sorceress that gained power through the essence of Voidsent. Now it could be possible that she was a short lalafell before her transformation, or perhaps all Mhach were short lalafell and somehow gained height through the powers of Void magic? Or Maybe there were also Roegadyn within the ranks of the Mhach and she was a FemRoe or something.

    ....I'm so confused....

The zombies that we fight are members of the Talons. Radia's sky pirate crew (they wear the green uniforms).
So they aren't any indication of who the Mhachi were. The statues though. Seeing all those Hyur highlander statues in Weeping City convinced me that Hyur highlanders were the dominant majority in Mhach.
To be honest I like the idea of a nation inhabited by Hyur Highlanders using black magic. The statues certainly conjure op intimidating and imposing images of tall muscular black robed Mhachi black mages as highlanders.

About Calofesteri: It doesn't make sense for her to have been a lalafell. If anything her body and face have way more in common with female Hyur highlanders. Of course it's possible that ancient Mhach had lalafell inhabitants, but I want to believe that it was predominantly a hyur highlander nation. Nym makes more sense as a Lalafell nation if you look at the mutated tonberries. Powerfull black magic doesn't have to be associated with lalafells.

I not talking about those zombies.
I'm talking about the Black Mage Artifact Gear Zombies you fight as Trash between bosses in both Weeping city and Amdapor hard.

The Mobs are even called like "Mhachi Corpse"

I really want to believe they are Hyur Highlander as well, I think the one thing we need to know is when exactly the Hyur Migrated to Eorzea. The game states that they migrated 3 times. I think there was mention of a migration after the flood (the hyur entering the black shroud) and the final migration being the highlanders moving to Eorzea after losing Ala Mhigo. Does anyone have any idea when the 3rd Migration was? If it was before the flood then it might be possible that they are Mhach

Reasonably surprised no one brought up Shatotto when talking about potential Mhachi Lalafell. There's a name that screams Lalafell.

I also don't see why Hyuran Eorzeans is unreasonable, most of the clones of Allag are decidedly Midlander and Eorzea was the seat of the Allagan Empire!

The NA publicity site from which you claim "three great migratory waves" has a very important caveat "Over the course of some one thousand years" Surely you see the problem, yes? The Sixth Umbral Era ended approximately 1580 years ago, which means Mhach was before any of these migratory waves. History in Eorzea is muddled due to poor recordkeeping and the penchant of Umbral Eras eradicating what little records there were--simply because there were three Hyuran migratory waves in the Sixth Astral Era and the Elezen deemed themselves the first race to have dominion over Eorzea (in the Sixth Astral Era, again) there's tens of thousands years before.

I think it's best to think of any past Eorzean city-states in much the same way you think of present day city-states. When you hear Ul'dah you think all Hellsguard and Dunesfolk, I'm sure. Maybe Seekers of the Sun too, if you're a F'hlaminn fan. But how could you forget Niellefresne? Colbernoux? Eolande? Prominent Elezen Ul'dahns! Hells, there was even a time where the sultanate was ruled by a decidedly Midlander family! I too believe Mhach was predominantly Highlander based on their statues but even the famed Mother of Sheave is wrong. We know Shiva was an Elezen. We know the Mother of Sheave is Shiva. We know the Mother of Sheave is Hyuran. Now this is just one sculptor's mistake, but it just shows the possibility for human error exists in Eorzea.

Also, there were definitely Miqo'te in Eorzea in the Fifth Astral Era (the time of the War of the Magi) as they're often quoted about crossing the sea and migrating to Eorzea during the Fifth Umbral Era (the Age of Endless Frost).

Quest text related to the 50-60 SCH quest, Sil'dih and Qarn seem to hint that Mhachi were plainsfolk lalafell, highland and midland hyur. Question is, how did the lalas get up that high if both clans originate and prefer warm, southern climates?

Wasn't Qarn founded after the flood though? This would have been well after or during the first Hyur Migration going by what Rocl Mentioned.

We're actually not sure how old Qarn is, just that it's pretty old. It was occupied in the early days of the Sixth Astral Era by the Belah'dians (who were the proto-Ul'dah/Sil'dih civilizations), but the ruins are much older. I wouldn't be surprised if Qarn ends up being either Mhachi or Allagan, tbh. Either way, it's old.

(Mhachi? Not a lot of good reasoning. Soulkin, ashkin; architecture seems similar to Yafaem, I guess. Allagan? Not a lot of good reasoning. Similar architecture to the Carteneau Flats ruins, we know Southern Thanalan already has Allagan ruins in the Sagolii desert)

First of all there were huge Mioqte migrations on Eorzea during the 5th umbral era( ice age ).

Second, Vejjiegirl. You are right, hyurs did not came to Eorzea until recently. Before that there were only lalafells, elezens and miqotes as far as we know. By any possibility if there were hyrus, it was a very VERY small population, something people would not event notice or care.
Those hyur shadow zombie tipe of Amdapori and Mhachi magues are is probably no less tahn a discrepancy. If you go to Wander's Palace, some skeletons are of hyur side, and that cannot be possible since there would only be lalalfells in there.

My only opinion here is taht when it comes to any tipe of undead enemie. The develop team will always use an hyur size, no matter if according to lore it should be another race.
But well there could be another reason as well..we arent being able to see their faces, is all just black and an eye. Maybe there is a lorewise reason to it?

Adding, if anyone refuse my comment just beacuse we see 2 statues of highlander shape on the Void Ark and the Weeping City. Well...I would say that, who are the deitys of Uldah and that my chanse are twins? Maybe that would solve many doubts.

    Again with the statues? /sigh...

Some statues do not prove or infer anything. They are statues that prove nothing, absolutely nothing, other than the Mhachi were evidently able to sculpt them.

The modern city-states all have racial diversity of varying degrees. There's no reason to believe the Mhachi didn't have the same, so some Highlander Hyur and Roegadyn would totally make sense even in a Lalafell-dominated society (as the implicit ancestors of modern Ul'dah, it makes even more sense). Those are likely the inspiration, and even if they weren't a minority population in Mhach itself they would know of the other races. As for the corpses, I'm going to guess they're either Hyur or Elezen.

They're statues. They do not necessarly mean anything.

Of course they mean something; they're so large and prominent, it would be silly for them to just be there without reason (even today, just about every prominent statue has meaning, there is a reason for its construction after all. And with people...someone important)

There had to be some Hyuran mage of great power and ability during the time the city was constructed, a King or someone who made great advances in Void Magic, that they'd make these statues in his image.
