I retired FFXI in Nov 2015 when because I didn't want to buy a PC to continue to play on (was playing on PS2 then Xbox 360). PS3 users are already being forced to upgrade to PS4, and then I guess PS4 would have to upgrade to Pro?

Except PS4, though not ideal IMO, offers reasonable performance in-game. The PS4 Pro could expand on that a little (or more). And then no comparison to PC.

PS3 is abysmal, and unbelievably, barely arguably, unplayable (IMO).

PS4 to the Pro is not a gen leap. Maybe do the research - Pro is using the same hardware components. Also: For all we know, FFXIV will never support the PS4 Pro.

Also, who cares if or when the PS4 loses support? It's not going to happen any time soon. Yeah, I'm really sorry you couldn't take your PS2 to the grave, but let's be real. Dropping PS3 got the loudest cheers at fanfest. Should give you a good idea of how many people care about legacy support after a certain point.

Not quite. It's not a generational leap, but there is a significant hardware upgrade, including an extra half Gig of regular DRAM to free up an additional half gig of GDDR5 for games.

Not sure why you would conclude that SE would not patch in the PS4Pro, they don't have to do very much to allow the existing game to make used of the Pro's extra GPU to increase the framerate. Anything else would take some effort, but I would guess that might come between now and the Expansion, I lean towards the expansion for full PS4Pro support.

PS4 and PS4Pro and losing PS4 support. That can't actually happen. Sony requires that all games licensed for PS4Pro must be able to operate to a certain minimum standard of quality on a regular PS4. This is because the base PS4 is still the platform. The PS4Pro is simply a 4K enhanced version of that.

I just wanted to add that since using ffxiv on my PS4 pro, my 4K tv without HDR looks much better. The colors are much more vibrant. Idk why but it didn't look like that with my normal PS4

Please give us the ps4 Pro patch update! Ps4 pro users won't benefit much from FFXIV until we get a proper ps4 pro patch that utilizes the full potential of the hardware. Right now we are only using half of its power and it would be nice if developers took the ps4 pro patch into consideration.
