What's with all the "chat" during raids

Last night got into WC and since the very beginning there were these 3-5 people that kept constantly chatting on Alliance channel, I mean constantly. So of course not long after we started we ....wiped.....no big deal it happens all the time...so we start the spider again and ....wipe.....they keep chatting non stop...so I ask if it would probably be a better idea to use the keys for skill mashing rather than (I swear) childish banter...about his mom their mom your mom and drinking etc....of course it went like that ...wipe....wipe...wipe...Finally thankfully abandon was voted on and we got a break from the BS.
Why do people find that to be the best time to chat? Yes I know youngsters but.....come on!!

I mean I usually chat during the raids, granted I type really fast and I maintank/heal most of the time, so my extra DPS isn't necessarily mandatory.

It adds to the experience. The most fun raids are the ones with cross alliance chatter. As long as it's not at the expense of dps or lives, it's all good.

In a Japanese data center no one ever talks in raids. Except to say "I'm sorry" and "Don't worry about it".

We could wipe 80 times over throughout the entire raid, but so long as we can get through the run without a single Gloriole comment, then I consider it a successful run.

Honestly, if you get to Ozma and don't go idiot fishing you're doing WC wrong.
