Apparently, new player means no one can look anything up anymore

We all had to do it "for the first time", it's no different.
And unless he knows no one, I'd say the most enjoying way to do a dungeon is by going with 3 friends, especially if you all go blind and learn the mechanics together.

Yep the fun of update day and wiping on bosses you all have no clue about with friends.
