I am bit worried about these people because the only thing on their mind when it comes to playing FF14 is to only play the game to kill things and they may complain sometimes that there is "not enough things to kill" in the game.

Being a returning player who hasn't played in a while (definitely new to all Heavensward content), I understand the reality that rejoining a matured game (endgame content out for a while) essentially means that the community is mostly endgame statics. Hence the reason I have no interest in joining a FC (likely full of people running in their endgame statics). Although forums is a small sample of the overall player base, I get that kind of closed-door vibe (no office hours, just Google it yourself).

I hear that there isn't necessarily a compelling need to do the end-endgame raiding though, and SE is starting to pay a modicum of attention to PvP (baby steps!), so maybe I would be better off as a new player carving out a niche in that direction than dealing with the PvE endgame catchup/static politiking.

Maybe I just lack faith in people sometimes... I feel this game has to legitimately spoonfeed a certain chunk of it's playerbase to even absorb the simplest of instructions and tasks. Maybe then, DF wouldn't be so terrible.

There is no "playstyle" argument. There is a right way and a wrong way to do things.

I don't know, as soon as you turn in your level 30 class quest, the guild leader or receptionist NPC will pop up with a new quest that shows you how to unlock the job for your class before you even accept it.

I just gotta wonder where you find bad players like these. I mean, its painfully obvious that standing in the red is bad and in ARR content some of the AoEs give ample time to dodge. Maybe horrible lag? Trying to connect to the server when its half way across the planet?
I guess this was more on Chimera and if I remember correctly it doesn't have much of the red aoe markers. Yes it tells you on the screen the very first time that it's eye changed colour after that you have to watch the chat log or watch the mob. If the new player is waiting for the next message to pop up on screen then yes there will be a problem.

If I recall correctly, Chimera has the Dragon's Breath frontal cone aoe indicator, Ram's breath frontal, and Ram's Keeper circle ice aoe indicator. I don't remember if there is a tail swipe cleave and aoe marker but I believe there is. Its fire breath attack and voices don't really have indicators of how far or close you need to be. If the dragoon is that new it's possible he was standing in the front a lot like some melee... seem to really enjoy.

This response is indicative of why new players have a hard time. Did you ask them? Did you talk to them? Yes, -this- dragoon showed some bad skills and there's no real excuse for when the game tells you to do job quests but it's possible they don't understand how much they are doing themselves a disservice. They might be new to the MMO scene. There's no hope because of vets like you who don't bother.

as a healer I cannot afford to look up youtube dungeon guides when going in blind

With that said, i would always nicely inquire to the player and ask if he needs any help or advice. It's the mother in me...i see no stupid players. Only folks who haven't learn the mechanic quite yet.

Didn't know a single boss fight. Died 3 times during the chimera fight. His excuse? "first run!"

Now I know that there some new players who actually do look up basic dungeon tactics before queueing and I know that people make mistakes (I make plenty of mistakes myself). But when someone obviously does not give enough crap to look up their class or a basic dungeon run. Why would me or anyone else want them to get carried to 60 and continue doing the same thing?
This mentality is so horrible and toxic. No wonder new players have such a hard time.

Hyperbole. The only new players who have a tough time are those who don't seem to read, or do everything the game casually tells them. OP stated this LNC was wearing shoddy gear and a very bad weapon. If this player was doing their MSQ, they'd have decent gear and a decent weapon. Now, messing up in Chimera can be forgiven, since its main deadly attacks aren't telegraphed (though if this was explained and they died without trying to avoid it anyway, then they weren't listening to helpful advice and only use 'first time' as an excuse; hoping that will save them from criticism, or from being kicked). Also, since they were a level 40 LNC, this can mean they never did their Class quests (which I believe the game reminds you to do every five levels), or they couldn't be bothered levelling a secondary Class to level 15.

Just because someone is new, doesn't mean they should be given special "it's okay to carry them" treatment. I was new at one point, but I at least tried to be a team player.

Ram's breath frontal, and Ram's Keeper circle ice aoe indicator.
These are the moves I meant unlike the red indicators these are virtually instant I wouldn't call them indicators as such. The indicator is the message in the chat log of which colour eye. If you aint near that spot or at that spot you are screwed. With majority of the red indicators you are given a small delay with enough time to move pre Cutters Cry.
