Egh, with the way even the "open world" is segmented by borders and loading screens, the only difference between an instance and the open world is the limit on people in the area and walking through the border. Add invisible walls and you become unable to even follow a different route than in the dungeon as you "explore". It's not like you could jump from Wanderer's Place down into the lake for the lulz, you'll be blocked by invisible walls either way because there's no swimming so SE can't allow you into any non-shallow body of water.

Can't say I'm too hot on it. It wouldn't help in creating a more cohesive world, which would be precisely what I'd want in open world changes.
