    Open world dungeons are there, let's use them

    I just mentioned this in another thread but I feel it should have it's own.

    There are so many beautiful zones that are made into faceroll dungeons in this game that we never have the need to visit or get the chance to explore. I would love to see the implementation of dungeons we have completed (post hm) as open world. Let us explore Amdapor, Wanderer's Palace, Snowcloak and such. From a lore standpoint only a few dungeons (like the Vault) would be off limits.

    The maps and assets are there, the music is composed. No need to put fates in them, give them notorious monsters instead, something we need to spawn that drops useful gear for leveling or glamour and synthing mats, not silly hunt marks, real NMs. Throw some gathering nodes in and just make interesting lil areas to explore or find.

    They don't need to be high population areas but it would be amazing for them to be utilized. Especially if you are going to make whole expanses of land into a dungeon (hello Xelphatol). It would be little work and would be amazing, give players something they have been asking for since day 1 and expand the world immensely.

    I like but think SE dont wana do it for several reasons.

    1) lag, when u got multi people same area doing the same thing, people won't be even able to load or lag
    2) mobs die, wait for respawn, the more people same room, the less there will be to share
    3) rewards of tomes is not gona be possible how are u gona distrubute tome rewards to random people
    4) agro and claiming, how is it gona work? this is not a fate we are dealing with dungen mobs here.

    with the limited resources SE has, and most money going into FFV development, i don't see why SE would even thinking of changing the dungen model, we keep paying and subscribing, and as long as we do that, SE is very happy.

    Egh, with the way even the "open world" is segmented by borders and loading screens, the only difference between an instance and the open world is the limit on people in the area and walking through the border. Add invisible walls and you become unable to even follow a different route than in the dungeon as you "explore". It's not like you could jump from Wanderer's Place down into the lake for the lulz, you'll be blocked by invisible walls either way because there's no swimming so SE can't allow you into any non-shallow body of water.

    Can't say I'm too hot on it. It wouldn't help in creating a more cohesive world, which would be precisely what I'd want in open world changes.

    It could work if they limited how many groups can enter, like diadem. Also make the notorious monsters/adds spawn like our B ranks (within a few seconds). Even with the amount of people that showed up for S ranks it still works for reward (what lag? unless not on a PC?)

    They could make chest spawn and be seen only to the group or player. Rewards for tomes could work just how our hunts work. Damage the boss X about of % get rewarded, just like our hunts.

    I liked the Shpohae dungeon in version 1.19 it was open world. Didn't have a problem killing a notorious monsters or finding chest. It was fun exploration. I still have my keys from that dungeon for the chests just in case.

    1) they don't have limited resources.
    2) FFXV Development is done for the most part.
    3) Yes they can redo the dungeon of the game if we ask, they made time to make Deep Dungeons. After we asked over a year ago. They can make time to make a new or better system.
    4) If SE did not care about us then way do a Live latter every 4-6 weeks about the game and upcoming patches?

    According to the dev team, they do. They explained that in order to make and experiment with new content, they had to gut the 3rd dungeon from the Expert Roulette cycles, scrap the idea of giving the Alexander raids 3 difficulty levels, and goodness knows what else we could've had in this game. 99% of the time whenever someone asks the dev team for something, it's always a "I'll pass it along to the rest of the team" or "We'll consider it".

    I fully agree to this. I actually made a thread about this about 2 or 3 months after the game came out. Here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Up-To-Explore. I do do feel if they did this this would bring life back into the the world out side the city's cause right now it is boring as hell.

    best I could think of to make this "viable" is as a catch up mechanic to be honest, for example when 4.0 comes out make the "MSQ" dungeons open world, so instead of queuing up to clear you can run into the zone and kill the NM last boss/ get item there. (as an extra option along with still just queuing up or platoons (assuming i am understanding how they work and a newer player could even access em that early on)) Still even this i don't see happening and I think were underestimating the amount of work to actually making it "open world", after all it would be work for the world design team, on top of making more world for the then current/future areas of the game.

    Address for me how these open world dungeons won't become face roll as I lvl increases. I think that's a issue that needs addressing also.
