    Job Idea: Magus

    *Please note, this was designed for fun and I do NOT expect SE to implement this in any way, shape, or form.*

    Magus (MGS)
    Caster DPS with Utility
    Weapon: Rings, Giant rings used to channel and fire off aether
    Attack Type: Long Range, Blunt
    Armor: Caster
    Limit Break: Threads of Fate
    Cross Class: Arcanist and Archer
    Important Stats: Intelligence for DPS, MP for casting

    Sharlayan mages who alter their elemental spells with Spellcrafts.



    Special Mechanics and Skills
    SpellCrafts
    By altering their normal spells with SpellCrafts, Magus can produce a variety of effects.
    All SpellCrafts have a duration of 15 seconds until used and users can only have one SpellCraft on them at a time (except SpellCraft: Hammer).
    When a SpellCraft is used, all the Spells that can be effected by it will be highlighted.
    After use, all Spells effected will still have their normal recast times (but their cast times may vary).

    -SpellCraft: Arrow: Ability. Alters the next spell the user casts to not miss/be evaded (battle mechanics excluded). Instant cast time. 60 second recast.

    -SpellCraft: Star: Ability. Alters the next spell the user casts to be a Critical Hit. Instant cast time. 90 second recast.

    -Spellcraft: Hammer: Uses one of the caster's elemental spells to increase the Physical Damage of a selected party member by 10% and grant their Physical Skills, Abilities, and Auto-Attacks (includes DoTs) with an elemental property for 15 seconds. Instant cast time. 60 second recast.
    Blue Droplet: Water-Element. Instant cast.
    Red Flame: Fire-Element. Instant cast.
    Green Gale: Wind-Element. Instant cast.
    Yellow Soil: Earth-Element. Instant cast.

    -SpellCraft: Needle: Ability. Alters spells by making them effect one target. Instant cast time. 15 second recast.
    White Light: Now ignores all Damage Reduction effects and Damage-absorbing Shields (but not invunrabilites or battle mechanics). MP cost increased by x1.5. Potency of 150.
    Red Flame: Damages a selected target with a 75% chance of landing a Critical Hit. Cost x0.75 MP. Potency of 180.
    Yellow Soil: Places a barrier around the selected enemy target that will damage them every time they use a damaging skill, spell, and/or ability for 21 seconds (does not include DoTs). Potency of 45. Instant cast time.
    Black Shadow: Damage a selected target. Potency of 200.


    -SpellCraft: Blast: Ability. Alters spells by making them effect multiple targets while doubling the MP cost. Instant cast time. 1 second recast, 30 after three uses.
    White Light: Now damages all enemies within 5 yalms of the user. Potency of 100.
    Blue Droplet: Same as normal spell but now spreads it to all enemies with in 5-yalms of the target and decrease their Damage Dealt by 5% for 9 seconds.
    Green Gale: Same as normal spell but now spreads it to all enemies with in 5-yalms of the target.
    Black Shadow: Places a 5-yalm area of darkness that will damage all enemies that step in for 30 seconds. Potency of 25 with an additional Potency of 15 spread out among all enemies (only goes low as 5 Potency).


    -SpellCraft: Cosmos: Ability. Alters spells to support their caster and their allies and makes them cost free. Instant cast time. 120 second recast.
    Blue Droplet: Places a 5 yalm pool of water under the user for 15 seconds that will refresh all partymembers' MP (Duration: 15 seconds). Potency of 30. Instant cast time.
    Red Flame: Increase all party members' Accuracy and Critical Hit Rate by 15% for 20 seconds. Instant cast time.
    Green Gale: Creates a 5 yalm Tornado that will absorb 10% of all damage any party member within recieves for 10 seconds. Instant cast time.
    Yellow Soil: Calls forth a 5 yalm crystal platform under the user for 15 seconds that will refresh all party members' TP (Duration: 15 seconds). Instant cast time.


    Offensive Spells and Abilities
    -White Light: Spell. Damage a selected target. Potency of 80. Instant cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Blue Droplet: Spell. Deals Water damage to a selected target. Additionally, damages them over time for 18 seconds. Potency of 50 for both. 2 second cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Red Flame: Spell. Deals Fire damage to a selected target and all enemies with in 5 yalms of them. Potency of 120. 2.5 second cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Green Gale: Spell. Deal Wind damage to a selected target for 21 seconds. Potency of 40. Instant cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Yellow Soil: Spell. Deals Earth damage to all enemies within 5 yalms of the user. Potency of 100. 2.5 second cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Black Shadow: Spell. A Spell that does nothing by itself. Potency of 0. Instant cast time. 60 second recast.
    -Fog: Spell. Damage a selected target. Additionally, place a Silence effect on them for 1 second. Potency of 50. Instant cast time. 60 second recast.
    -Meteo: Spell. Damage a selected target. Potency of 80. 2.5 second cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Valiant: Ability. Places a barrier on a selected partymember that after absorbing damage equal to 20% of their Maximum HP, will explode, damaging all enemies with in 5 yalms (Duration: 30 seconds). Potency of 180. Instant cast time. 120 second recast.

    Other Spells and Abilities
    -Curaise: Spell. Resurrects target to a weakened state. 2 second cast time. 60 second recast.
    -Jewel: Spell. If the affected enemy reaches 0 HP within the next 5 seconds, increase the droprate of all items it can drop by 10%. 2 second cast time. 300 second recast.
    -Spirit Ward: Spell. Decrease the amount of Elemental Damage all partymembers with in 15 yalms of the user by 10% for 30 minutes. 2 second cast time. 2.5 second recast.
    -Angelic Ward: Ability. Spread the user's next Care or Starlight effect to all party members (besides themselves) with in 10 yalms for half their amount. Duration: 15 seconds. Instant cast time. 200 second recast.
    -Aquaveil: Ability. For 5 seconds, all party members within 5 yalms of the user cannot have their spell casts interrupted (excluding moving or being moved). Instant cast time. 120 second recast.
    -Care: Ability: Restore 25% of the user's HP. Instant cast time. 120 second recast.
    -Composure: Ability. Causes the user's next Spellcraft: Arrow or Star to affect 3 spells, instead of just one. Instant cast time. 120 second recast.
    -Dewprism: Ability. For 15 seconds, increase the amount of Limit Break generated by party members with in 15 yalms of the user by 5%. Instant cast time. 300 second recast.
    -Elemental Seal: Ability. Increases Elemental Damage done onto a selected target by 15% for 21 seconds. Instant cast time. 120 second recast.
    -Gold Heart: Ability. Ends all cooldowns on of the user's SpellCraft abilities but increases damage done onto them by 20% for 20 seconds. Instant cast time. 200 second recast.
    -Spell Frenzy: Ability. Spread the user's next Spellcraft: Arrow or Star to all party members (besides the user)within 10 yalms of the user. All Spellcrafts, that are not on cooldown, will go on a 10 second cooldown. Instant cast time. 120 second recast.
    -Starlight: Ability. Recover 30% of the user's MP. Instant cast time. 90 second recast.

    8. Enhanced Intelligence: Increases Intelligence by 2.

    16. Valiant Heart: Once Valiant's initial effect goes off, the target will recieve a 5% decrease in Damage Received for 15 seconds.
    20. Increased Aetherial Damage: Increased base action damage by 10%.
    24. Enhanced Fog: Shorten Fog's recast to 30 seconds.
    28. Cara: Care now restores 30% of the user's HP.
    32. Enhanced Intelligence III: Increases Intelligence by 6.
    36. Moonlight: Starlight will have an additional effect: Restore the user's MP by 15% (this effect will NOT be spread using Angelic Ward).
    40. Increased Aetherial Damage II: Increased base action damage by 30%.
    44. Spell Weaver: Allows the user to use SpellCraft: Arrow and Star with any other Spell Craft.
    48. Enhanced Aquaveil: Shorten Aquaveil's recast to 60 seconds.

    THe Magus in FF is usually a upgrade of the Black Mage (BLack Magus normally called). I don't know if that can be possible, sound redundant.

    Feels like the Wizard job from Bravely second, all in all It might actually work although some skills in this form are actually a bit too powerful, but would be a nice addition nonetheless imho

    It's actually closer to a very underrated Squaresoft game, Threads of Fate. I like the references, a lot, but I do agree it could be a bit overpowered.

    When I played Bravely Second, the Wizard class reminded so much of Mint's magic from Threads of Fate (Dewprism in the original JP), where you select an element and then an effect.

    Magus also appears in Dimensions and in the JP version of Bravely Default, Arcanist is called Magus.
    The version of Meteo I based this one on was from the SFX command from the beginning play in IX.

    I do agree with all of you that this is overpowered but I couldn't find ways to fill up the skill slots and be meaningful. >A>()

    Agreed. Also :P Ptthhhhrlllbbbb ---> Blackcanary

    Anyways you get my like for using Mint lol. Any class using the rings for long distance magic and as blunt weapon is awesome in my book. Though I wouldn't mind the rings being implemented for dancer but this would be my next alternative for sure. If Square did implement it it'd be more popular than machinists RNG BS for sure.

    This post just gave me an idea.

    If Black Mage upgrades to magus, make it so that it gives you a slight buff to all stats and one, yes one, move that would bring the job to unrivaled heights. Something really OP that can't be used in PvP and has a long cool-down its so awesome.

    For this to work it would have to be implemented during the later bits of the games life when the level cap is close to the max though.

    Ideas like this are fun to imagine.

    Definitely an interesting idea. Sure, some of those skills could use a passing nerf and the support end seems a bit too heavy, but the spell alteration factor is definitely a cool concept. I definitely approve!

    Would say too though that I'm not too sure about the name of "Magus" for the sake of translation purposes. Thinking Bravely Second got it right with "Wizard", but maybe "Sage" or something that wouldn't wind up as the same name found in Black Mage or White Mage in other languages.
