This armor is much much better than the winner. This one ? I loved it too, it was my favourite right after the Allagan Luminous set. It reminds me a lot of this Tera high-elf female armor (but less skimpy of course tho) for some reason (mostly the shoulders and the overall "gothic and elegant" design), and I loved this armor.
I too am tired of gear that clips, looks like skirts, or half naked people running around.
I like to tank, and i like to wear gear that looks sleek, as well as protective.
Something like the Paladin artifact armor, or my absolute favorite (and my glamour) the Paladin, and Dark Knight PvP gear: Lionsmain, and whatever the DRK one is called. I use those as my glamour. They look amazing!
(also i'm still waiting on being able to set glamour based on gear set. Another thing Final Fantasy XI does, but XIV does not..... old game, making new game look/seem outdated!)

I rather like the tankskirt fashion it feels more fantasyish
one of the reasons i dont play many of the western mmo's are because their armour fashion is a revolving door of horns/bones, capes, and generic fashion armour
FFXIV Since Sep. 2010: Selbina/Ridill/Excalibur (Mergers)
Currently moved to Leviathan
I remember the Alpha days when even breathing lagged you
I did have an issue with the Void Forged Plate's leggings for females looking like fishnets, but other than that, I'd have preferred it if that had been the winner.
I'll be content with it being a runner up, where it's "potentially" going to be implemented, as opposed to the winner's "definitely".

I'm going to say if anything I was far MORE inspired by this tank design than ANYthing that square has come up with recently. Rest assured this armor will be my glamour for a long time when it comes out. So yeah I'm going to heavily disagree with the op here.
While I don't hate tank skirts or coats, I would say that I'd like to see more surcoats and tabard designs like the Elite Twin Adder coat or the DRG Valerian armor.
