At level 60 there are currently a few ways to aqcuire gear. When you start gearing up now, bear in mind that the next patch (3.4) with new tomestones and raid content will be coming out in a bit more than a week (September 27th). So at this point it might be a good idea to just find the fastest and easiest way to get yourself somewhat prepared for that and then focus on gearing your job with the new stuff when that comes out. The required item level for next Alexander normal is likely i230 (the last two were i170 and i200), so aim for that.

    Tomestone gear:

    - Tomestones of Lore, weekly cap (reset on Tuesday) of 450, can be used to buy i230 gear that can be upgraded to i240 (the highest item level). Acquired specifically from daily Expert roulette (dungeons Sohr Khai and Hullbreaker Isle Hard). You can buy the upgrade items by running the Weeping City of Mhach and Void Ark (doing both once a week will get you 1 upgrade item).

    - Tomestones of Esoterics have no weekly cap (so you can farm a full set of them if you'd like), they are used to buy i200 gear that can be upgraded to i210 gear (I wouldn't bother with upgrades on these). You get Esoterics from your daily roulettes, and the fastest dungeon to farm it from is the Aetherochemical Research Facility.

    24 person raid gear:

    - The Weeping City of Mhach drops i230 gear with a weekly limit of 1 drop (so you can't get any more than 1 piece of gear per week, reset on Tuesday).

    - The Void Ark drops i200 gear without any weekly lockouts, so you can farm it as much as you want.

    8 person raid gear (Alexander):

    - Alexander has currently two sets of 8 person raids: Alexander Gordias (1st one) and Alexander Midas (2nd one). Both of them have 4 floors and easy and Savage versions of all floors. The normal versions drop tokens you can use to buy "Prototype" gear, and these you can more or less easily run with any random Duty Finder group. The savage versions drop higher item level gear and also tokens you can use to buy that same gear. Midas savage is still under a weekly lockout (you can complete each floor once a week for loot) since it's the current raid content in the game (before new Alexander is released in the next patch which is coming September 27th).

    - Alexander: Gordias drops tokens you can use to buy i190 gear. Not really worth it right now since it takes a lot of time to farm them and the item level is so low.

    - Alexander: Gordias (Savage) drops i210 gear and tokens you can use to buy that gear. Not really worth it either since it's hard to find groups for this content and the fights can still be quite difficult to beat.

    - Alexander: Midas drops tokens you can use to buy i220 gear. I'm not sure how efficient way this is to gear your job right now (I haven't personally done Midas normal since it first came out around half a year ago).

    - Alexander: Midas (Savage) drops i240 gear (currently the highest item level gear) and tokens you can use to buy that gear. This is under a weekly lockout and it's also the most difficult content currently in the game. There are some party finder groups for this on my server, at least, but it might be difficult to find a group for this at this time of the patch cycle.

    Dungeon gear:

    - The expert dungeons (Sohr Khai and Hullbreaker Isle Hard) drop i215 gear.

    Weapons:

    - The easiest way to to gain a high item level weapon at this point is to buy your job's Lore weapon (i230) and upgrade it (i240). To buy the weapon you'll need 1000 Tomestones of Lore (for 10x Rowena's Lore Tokens) and 4 Midan Gear (for the High-Capacity Tomestone) from Alexander: Midas floor 4 (normal). Then you can buy the upgrade item (Illuminati Deep Gobdip) with 1 Mhachi Penny (gained automatically after clearing the Weeping City of Mhach) and 1 Mhachi Farthing (gained automatically after clearing the Void Ark).

    - Another option is going for an extreme primal weapon. Nidhogg drops i235 weapons and if you win the fight 10 times you'll have enough weapon tokens for a guaranteed weapon.

    - You can also get an i235 weapon from the Palace of the Dead (haven't really done it myself so I don't know the details).

    - Yet another option is starting your Anima Weapon (relic weapon) quest. I would actually advice you to start this quest right away, since you can get an i200 weapon from the first easy steps, even if you wouldn't continue the weapon further. Currently this weapon can be upgraded to i240 and there will be new upgrades for it in the future updates.

Thank you, Taika, that was great info. Summarized just about everything I needed to know. I'm not in a FC and have been learning the game with help from this thread and some friends.

I got the i235 weapon and shield so should be close to having the minimum ilvl to farm void ark and those 2 dungeons for the 200+ gear.

Nvm, altho I'm at lvl 60 after today I am only at lvl 52 in main questline, so will not be able to do many things. Will farm for esoterics while completing the questline.
