    BLM main looking to change

    Hi there guys!

I currently have a level 50 BLM which I love, but reading about the gameplay at 60 is worrying me a bit. I have an anxiety issue, and I'm afraid the stress of keeping the Enochoin (spelling) buff up at all times may stress me up a bit.

I'm an above average player, been doing the mmo thing since EverQuest and DAOC, so better than most, but definatly not the best. Rotations, complexity, or skill cap don't bother me. It's the stress of keeping a buff up that can easily drop, tanking your DPS that has me concerned.

Any suggestions on another DPS class to try out? I prefer ranged so I can watch the battlefield easier, but can definatly do some melee.

    Thanks guys!

Suggestion is.... You won't be good at any job when you hit 60 for the first time. Or the second time. Or the third. You will suck at Blm. You will lose Enochian. You will drop off astral fire stacks.

Once you learn the rotation and realize how easy it is you'll be fine. When it's time to refresh Enochian you're already going into umbral ice because you're outta MP. Only difference is you cast a blizzard 4 right after your blizzard 3.

IMO black Mage isn't to bad to learn at 60. I'm not saying it's the easiest class out there but it's better by how it incorporates it's new attacks. All classes above 52 are different now. There are those players who don't use their new skills, but once you learn them it's fun

Do not worry, it will take practice but you will get the hang of it.
Some of us who had blm main for a while now, did not have 100% enochian uptime when we first hit 60.
    It becomes 2nd nature though
My suggestion is perhaps to try Ninja to see if it suits you

You'll be fine on BLM. Just takes practice and WHEN you lose Enochian, you understand why, and what you can do in the future to prevent it.

On another note, all dps is like this. Dragon has to keep up Blood of the Dragon, Ninja has Huton, monk > greased lightning, SMN > dreadwyrm trance, Brd has a ton of dots to focus on keeping up, etc. each class becomes more difficult at level 60, but none of them are really that bad once younger the hang of it.

Me saying that keeping Eno up isnt really that stressful once youve had a few practice fights is probly 0% likely to make you feel better. And changing classes can be a good thing. You could always try all 4 of the ranged classes(possibly using PotD) to see if one has a better feel then the others to you.

But i would say to at least give BLM a try at 60 before completely giving up on it, as youve enjoyed the class pre-Eno. When you get to 58 you can spend some time with a practice dummy to get the refresh mechanic down with no pressure, then again at 60 to have a feel for weaving in F4s and refreshes together. And remember this is a 60 second recast buff with a 30 second duration. So even if you lose it, youll have it back in 30 seconds or less. And for those less then 30 seconds youd be using the level 50 rotation you already know and love. While the damage is lower, the lower level rotation is still doing roughly 2/3 of the damage of the full Eno version(single target, the AoE rotation doesnt change after level 50) until the cooldown is up. So it isnt like you stop contributing, you just dont do quite as much.

I was trying to think of a way to make this exact point while writing, then saw this. So yay Garotte for saying what i was trying to think.

BLM was my main until lv 60 but I dropped it because Im not good with the rotation and takes time to learn it. Practice is the only way to master anything.

BLM at 60 is just managing another timer. It isn't hard. At all. If you fuck it up it's back to 2.0 rotation you go. Once you practice it's going to be easy to manage.

Thanks guys. I'll just keep going and practice until it becomes second nature. I play every class anyways, so if something jumps out at me, maybe I'll switch then if blm end up being a problem.
