There's plenty of hapless npcs scattered around Eorzea for whom rescue never seems to arrive (like the guy hanging off the cliff near the statue in the Coerthas Western Highlands, or that hapless pirate strung up over the railing of the Astilica in Limsa Lominsa). It reminds me of something I realized back in FFXI of a galka miner NPC who was at work in the Zeruhn Mines in Bastok - by now he's been bashing that same rock endlessly for fourteen years now (real time) with no relief (and if the in-game FFXI clock is to be believed, he's been at work for nearly 800 years!).

But yeah, I hope those npcs are indeed rescued as it's frustrating that as the Warrior of Light we can't do something as simple as save a hapless guy from falling to his death.

actually the Rising event proved that technically their years match up with ours since they mention that it's still only been 5 years, it's just that one of our days is equal to about 22-24 of theirs. This means a single year for them is 8,030-8,760 days long!

That'd be pretty cool, actually. Add a "Press X to save!" icon when you're near one of these guys, and you haul them up. Eventually, they'll be dangling again, but eh, it's an MMO, it's to be expected.

Maybe you could get an achievement and a title for rescuing 100 of them. XD
