    ah, the ol "this is how we get people to keep subbing" limit cap

    Honestly, other MMOs do this too...WoW (i think) was the first to impose limited caps on weekly end game armor

    I don't think WoW was the first to implement time gating in progression. Currency caps are really nothing effectively different from raid lockouts or respawn timers for world bosses - they all serve only to throttle the amount of gear you can attain in a given time period. This and RNG are pretty much the cornerstones of MMO gearing, I have a hard time believing the idea didn't pop up before WoW.

    EQ had variable respawn on dragons back in 99.
