I just can't make myself grind out another set of gear....

Lost my excitement for these like 5 patches ago if you like it great I'll stick to whatever 24 man raid and gear that way if I happen to get enough tomes from it to get something later bonus but im not going to burn myself out on them though.

My first post about excitement was actually sarcasm honestly. I'm not excited about them at all. All they really do is bring a new tier of ilvl that I have to keep up with to stay relevant on EX primals. I don't do the alex raids but I need to meet ilvl requirements in order to do EX. Falling behind in a "lockout" styled game means that if you take a long break, you can literally come back and have to wait a week or two before you can even do the "new" content.
I strongly disagree with how the tomestome system works, I can see how its designed for people who cannot play often but there are plenty of ppl out there who CAN play often and would like to gear up and play multiple jobs but are stuck with lockouts on the interim. There are solutions but it doesn't seem like SE wants to be creative with these tomestones at all. I'm actually gonna end up doing what others have already posted probably.
Wait, what?My first post about excitement was actually sarcasm honestly. I'm not excited about them at all. Sephiroth was ilvl 205 and Niddhog was ilvl 220.
Sooooo... it can be assumed that Sophia ex ilvl requirement will be 235 and the ilvl of the ex primal/trial (coming out in 4-5(!) months) will be 250.
So, looking at my gear, to do the overnext primal I could go with the Sophia weapon, 2-3 creator normal gear (being 250), 2-3 old tome/raid gear (being 240) + 2-3 new tome/raid gear (being 260/70) + 2-3 crafted gear (being 250)... with 4 months time to get these.... doesn't sound that much, it's highly possible to have quite a few classes at that level (when taking shared gear into account).
I mean, like always.. I might be able to do a ilvl 235 Sophia fight then with WHM, SCH, PLD, WAR, SMN, BLM, MNK and if I had them levelled with AST and DRK as well.
You could've done Sephiroth right from the start, if geared up in 3.1 and you could've done the 3.3 ex trial (Niddhog) with a mix of 4 month old crafted gear, 4 month old midas normal drops and an 4 month old sephiroth weapon then, so to say a mix of the lowest 3.2 gear... no lore involved.
If there was no tome cap, the minimum ilvl has to be increased by at least 15 ilvls in my opinion.

I have tried taking breaks but it still comes with a toll. I dont enjoy farming tomes so i just do roulettes irregularly when im not doing weeping city or EX primals. I rarely cap. Combine that with a short break here and there and its very easy to fall behind on ilvl. Some groups dont even want people at the minimum ilvl either.
I couldnt do nidex till 2 weeks after its release cause of the lack of ways to obtain high enough gear. I dont buy ilvl220 gear cause it dont last long enough to be worth the gil and ive only been able to craft it recently thanks to new crafting patchwork, the control/craftsmanship requirements before blocked me. Jewelry i buy sometimes.
Yes in reality its my fault for not regularly caping tomes and taking breaks but i still feel inclined to give my opinion here on this system in hopes of more ways to obtain relevant gear in the future.
Some poeple look at ilvl as a form of character improvement which is fine. I look at it as just another number i have to meet before i can do the content i want to do. Unfortunently with how gear works in conjunction with stats in this game, ilvls are required because the gear determines your characters potential instead of augmenting it. In ffxi you could fight high lvl mobs in basic gear if you had the knowledge and skill as a gamer. The ilvl system and gear in this game is a whole nother issue though.
Currently my concerns are towards limited avenues for relevant gear but all things considered, gear has a short lifespan and putting more development into more ways to abtain relevant gear would just cause more strain on a short shelf life system. Since that may not be the best route, why not create some new ways to get tomes and orther rewards in the process. There are alot of options, aquapolis was a nice addition imo. Some forced spawn monsters would be cool. My tome threads arent meant to be a form of attrition, just hoping to bring some more fun to the tome avenue.
Not gonna lie though, would still like more gear avenues even considering development strains. The short shelf gear life was their choice...

Tomestones of This is getting old fast and yoshida needs to show he has the ability to change for the better of the game and get rid of this token system before is too late.

Wish they would unlock them and allow players to gear their classes at their own pace, or at the very least, double/triple the current weekly cap of 450. There's little point in the armory system allowing you to play all the classes when you can really only gear two jobs before the next set of gear upgrades arrives.

This bringing in a new tomestone every 2 major patches and keeping this 450 lockout is ridiculous.
I don't have every job to 60 but for those that do... Are you all struggling to keep all 13 (15 or 16 at 4.0) jobs geared?
