Class changing, are we unique?

Actually, now that I think of it there is atleast one character that changes classes (or could it be Job to class) in that we see the boss of Hullbreaker HM go from being a MRD (potentially a WAR) to a gun (Musketeer?) He even goes to a complete wardrobe change likewe do when switching between jobs/classes

It makes me wonder how the Kobold in the LV45 (or was it 40?) quest knows Presence of Mind, which is a WHM only ability.

Tataru and Derplander. I'm sure if we keep our eyes opened we can find more, specially among those we recruited for the Crystal Braves.

A good reason not to change classes is the gain in proficiency by dedicating yourself to it. Hence I'm garbage at Monk, but gud at Warrior.

People seem to be forgetting that Tataru changes class multiple times during the MSQ, though in her case it's only crafting/gathering classes.

I think the implication is that everyone can change their class/job at will whenever they like, but the WoL is able to learn at a massively enhanced rate due to their affinity with the various soul crystals they possess. Chalk this up to the Echo; it gives us the ability to learn from the memories stored in soul crystals really easily.

For other characters learning a class/job is like a lifetime investment so very few ever branch out to more than one or two.

Hello! So far in the story, I've not seen anybody change class ever. Everyone and their mom seems to have Cure slotted in story fights, but that's about it. :P

Are we unique in our capacity to learn and level all the different classes? Why does everyone seem to only ever do one thing? The first guildmaster lets us loose to join others, but nobody else in the guild ever took advantage of it but us? That seems crazy. If we are unique, why? What makes us special in that regard?

Like, I would advice you to play deeper on the game story and be informed of sereval orther details before asking this kind of questions.

Godbert class changes from GSM to GOD at 5:28 then uses a LB5. You can see here he's wearing GOD AF4.

Actually, Godbert may be another good example of an NPC class changing. When he goes into "work-mode," (see above video) he strips down to nothing but his hammer and raw determination, and makes miracles. It even uses the same sound and visual effect as when we change jobs.

There is also Edda. While it's never put on paper or outright stated, everything points to her switching from CNJ to Necromancer...

Lastly, if I recall correctly, Cocobusi, baby brother of the Thaumaturgy guild leaders, took up culinary work as a side job after the story. I can't confirm it as Cocobuki has different dialogue now that I'm deep into Black Mage.

Cocobusi took up alchemist first in his attempt to create potions that'll increase his aether so he could be a thaumaturge like his brothers. He seems to have given up tho, and changed profession as culinarian instead.

Tataru has been Arcanist, Miner and Weaver(seamstress). As well as other jobs that are not fighting jobs receptionist, bookkeeper performer(juggler), singer

To be fair, many of our job abilities are unique to us (whether we started their use or rediscovered them); Blood of the Dragon and its abilities are entirely new, for example (actually, I think Battle Litany is as well), and right now we're the only one who can use the Dreadwyrm Trance. Scholar abilities are also our own for now, we're the only one able to channel tier IV black magic, and so on.
