I was being sassy. That is why I put "jk" at the end for just kidding.Hehe, almost took you seriously there, until it started sounding like sarcasm...
You are right and I agree with: there're no real rewards in raiding. You work hard for the gear, what for? Story? Can do it in easy mode with somewhat less headache.
Coils difficulty were good, my FC ran it and helps out other FC members that still needs to finish it for the story (when majority of my FC mates were still active).
However, they eventually started becoming inactive even before easy mode was introduce, cause there're no real lasting rewards.
At current, any kind of difficulty changes made to Alex will not solve the problem, it is but just a bandage fix.
I agree about no lasting rewards. Actually, we do have lasting rewards, glamour, mounts and minions. I still struggle with accepting that this mess is the best they can do for an MMO.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
Disappointed with this was hoping they wud give us 1 diffuculty but more bosses. Having more bosses means a better spread of difficulty rather than the jumps (sometimes cliffs) between each boss. It would also allow for the difficulty to start lower (say an ex primal) and build upto something like a7s. Make the raid gear better than the next tiers crafted gear so its useful still and for those who dont clear but want the story, add a quest that shows the cutscenes (like the victory lap quest) after that tier is no longer relavent
Never understood the 'story is the reward' mindset about these endgame raids. Anyone can watch the cutscenes even if they choose not to raid. Thus, gating story bits behind Coil-esque raids is nonsense, supported by nonsense logic.
Just keep Normal Mode as-is, while not requiring NM to access Savage.
Then what should be the reward then? It's certainly not superior Ilvl, unique looking gear, BiS for next raid tier or any other semblance of a raid reward.Never understood the 'story is the reward' mindset about these endgame raids. If challenge alone was enough of a reward, SCoB savage would have had much higher clear rates.
Yeah you should just be able to put a half-assed effort in fighting the toughest bosses who want to destroy the world and defeat them easily to see the story unveil. There's no need to have highly skilled fighters to defend us from powerful enemies. Just show up in front of Bahamut's face, poke him and he'll die and you'll save the world and avenge all the deaths he caused.

Then why have normal mode if you can just "Watch the cutscenes" the "Story is the Reward" is why all the people unable to even play the original coil are grasping so desperately to the story they get.
It feels cheap to watch the cutscenes on youtube because you didn't earn them.
Coil felt accessible to anyone willing to try and earn the story, Savage Alex is a different beast from standard coil at least in my experience.
Let's just take you for your word that "Raiders" are the toxic element of the community. Even then (Which it isn't because people are toxic regardless of skill level) Even if that's the case the so called Toxic community is also the one driving the game forward.
Who buys your crafted gear?
Who buys your farmed materials?
Who buys your consumable items?
Who buys the expensive materia?
Who pushes people to their pinacle in the game?
Who releases the guides you watch on youtube?
Who drives the developers to make sure the game doesn't become cookie clicker 2.0?
The hardcore dedicated long term players are those should drive the game and help guides the communities evolution, even in this baren landscape of XIV devoid of community it's still these types of players who go the extra mile to help others.
Raiders and the like aren't monsters the same way casual players aren't out to ruin the game. Balance in everything, harmony will ensue, but the game is leaning far too heavily towards one crowd and it's making the more dedicated players feel like they have nothing to strive for, no reason to go on.
That's my take on it at least.
No one needs to be a special snowflake, but at the same time this game shouldn't be the equivalent of a participation award where you get rewarded just for showing up.

I am ok with some level of participation awards. I really am.
I am also fighting myself on "Why even bother with being geared and spending the time and effort to know how to play my job well."
I don't really have a good answer to that. Outside of Savage and to a degree EX trials, there is no reason.
Why do Savage and EX primals while they are current? /shrug.
