Marking is a bit silly when it's almost always better to AOE things. Especially when you hit 50+ and you'll be tanking groups much larger than 3.

Well, it doesn't look like the OP is 50 yet. In lower level dungeons, nobody has any good AoE skills, so they're going to be taking mobs down with single-target attacks and marking which mobs to hit is still useful (though only rarely done from what I've seen). I'd agree that in level 50 and above dungeons (or maybe late 40's) there isn't much point to it, though.

Honestly macros aren't all that useful. You might want to make one for calling out the name of the target you provoke, or for announcing the use of a skill that party members may need to know about (for instance Divine Veil on Paladin, which requires a heal within 10 seconds to provide a shield to others, or Living Dead on Dark Knight which requires you to be healed to 100% within 10 seconds). You could also use one for a countdown before pulling a boss. Anything beyond those few uses though, and you risk actually losing functionality, not adding it. Most skills should be manually activated, so you can use them when you need them. Stuff like hiding all your buffs on a single macro is foolish unless you're on a controller and hotbar space is at a premium. Also, marking targets is rarely used and even more rarely needed.

Here's the pulling countdown macro I use on my tanks, I think it's quite nice. The special characters don't show correctly on the forums but a direct paste in game *should* work, hopefully. In addition to the countdown you'll see in the screenshot below it'll put the 3/2/1 marks over your own head while it counts down and then a circle during "charge" which will disappear right after, it's a nice visual queue.

    Pulling in:
    /wait 0.5
    /mk "attack3" <me>
      <se.5>
    /wait 0.5
    /mk "attack2" <me>
      <se.5>
    /wait 0.5
    /mk "attack1" <me>
      <se.5>
    /wait 0.5
    /mk "circle" <me>
     <se.7>
    /wait 0.5
    /mk "circle" <me>

Balmung is probably best for your RP needs, unless you're looking to stay on a JP server. Then I suppose Tonberry is where you'd find English speakers.
