Krile and things from older Final Fantasy games

Krile, she's in Final Fantasy V.
And Living Liquid too..in a way.
Playing through all the other Final Fantasy games on Steam I'm running into things brought into FFXIV from older games. My heart hurts from all the nostalgia playing FFXIV. It's so cool!

Final Fantasy VI best FF ever

FFVII Overrated mess (Shots Fired!!!)

EDIT: This is actualy what i think, not any trendy thing.

I played all the Final Fantasy games, my first one being FFX, and to be honest when i decided to go back to do all the Final Fantasy games from 1, i was enjoying them all equally, i got to VI and i was baffled with how good it was... Then i went into VII... i actualy didn't went with any expectations or hype from people saying it was the best game ever, so i managed to grasp every detail, good or bad, I will say this... 1/3 of the way in... i couldn't stand Cloud anymore! And when it went into the psychotic Cloud event in the main story near the end actualy let go of my controller and said "Nope!! I'm Done!!!" and left the game.

But i came back into it after two days and completed the game... only to, at the end, only be able to describe this game as " This is the same as a homosexual couple arguing with who gets to keep the dog..." NOTE: I have nothing agains't homosexuals, i am one myself, and i am a woman.

But i can see why people liked the game at the time it was releassed, but to me... the story and characters are the most important... and if the main character fails to pull me in... then it sucks in my book...

The only thing i really liked about FFVII was Crisis Core which has a MUCH better Cloud and a much better protagonist and story, even if it is just 1/4 of the size of FFVII is. Then i went forward into FFVIII and it's not as good as the other previously due to some confusing plot holes (Yes i am making a pun about the frame with squall's face with a big hole), but it still holds up, even if the Junction system was broken... FFIX was really good in my opinion, i was a bit taken back with how unrealistic the character sprites were but the characters themselves and personalities pulled me in, and it was a game that made almost every piece of gear important due to some having abilities and effects that countered some bosses.

FF12 i really enjoyed due to the diferent style of gameplay and story, it went more political and action based combat, where positioning mattered. I also enjoy the trilogy of FFXIII games also due to the diferent style of combat, even if i thought it was still a bit less tactical and more "Hit it until it dies!" but it still have tactics to go around it, specialy Lightning Returns where you are a one man army so every decision you make counts! Even if i didn't liked the timed system, the game was still more enjoyable than VII.

Note that i never talked about graphics, why? Because graphics to me are just bonus, they don't matter in a rating of a game (In my opinion).

The callbacks to older games is a large part of what makes Final Fantasy what it is.

Each number is it's own isolated story and world, allowing you to jump in on just about any one of them and enjoy it (or not, lol) but it's self-referential style makes it still feel like series.

Plus, we all can find a story, characters and gameplay that resonates with us as individuals, while still having a joined premise to relate to with each other, opening the community up to lots of people.

Indeed. In a lot of respects, FFXIV ARR is a lot like FFIX in that both are full of references and injokes to the FF games that came before it (and even some very obscure non-FF Square titles as well), so much so it starts to become reference-overload at times. :3

If you're interested, this thread has done a very good job at correlating as much of the known references, injokes and nostalgic nods to other FF games (and by Azeyma, there is a lot!).

Did not even realize Krile was from Vi. I really need to play that one again!
