The difference is that without DVI (or hdmi), 3D will not function correctly. Since I upgraded my rig specifically for 3D surround, no DVI port would mean I'd have to replace a monitor. The difference between dvi and vga is SO small though. I can see it, but only if I squint and pay really close attention. At a glance or even using it, you can't tell without comparing it.
What I'm having difficulty deciding is what angle to put the monitors at. Strait across is just way to wide, 30 degrees seems to far in. Also trying to figure out what the distortion angle is for ffxiv, as stuff on the ends is distorted pretty well.

Also what monitors are they? I've been looking at 120hz monitors but they're crazy expensive, and since I have 28" now, i can't go back to 21", so I'd have to get the asus 27" which are $650, and thus why I'm enjoying my current monitors.

2x Intel 520 180gb SSD's in Raid0 - 3x 28" LCD @ 5760x1200

Dell U2711 and U3011 to name two. There are others who make displays with those panels as well. I personally have a U3011. I'd post my setup.... but it might draw too much attention.I'm sure there are better displays out there, but I haven't seen them, so my displays still look good, and they're cheap. One is a mismatched model though, which I'd like to fix, as my computer won't recognize it over hdmi, so i have to do vga to dvi adapter for that monitor. really annoying.

It looks cool. Personally, I think it would end up driving me crazy though.
Oh Molly... nice keyboard(s)
This is so ridiculous I can't comprehend

Ah, that makes sense. Do you do 3d and surround for xiv? What resolution? What graphics cards do you have driving it?

You can buy curved desktop monitors nowadays. They are OLED screens.

They're also $15,000.
