Giving an opinion of whether or not I find something fun is not tearing down the game.

Considering you said "Sounds terrible", it mean you weren't there at that time.
So, you're basically giving an opinion of something you know nothing about...just for the sake of bashing the game.

Considering that all of this Deathga'ing and insane interactivity was based around the fact that they were killing the game to make it, going the distance and making a lore-based reason why is actually pretty damn amazing. I will miss being able to kill things as crafter/gatherer by stoning them to death with that critical hit rock throw.
Pro DPS tactic: Big glowing orange AOE = "Stand here to boost your DPS!"

A well timed Wrist Flick for the stun was a life saver at times hah!Considering that all of this Deathga'ing and insane interactivity was based around the fact that they were killing the game to make it, going the distance and making a lore-based reason why is actually pretty damn amazing. I really hope to see events like that in the future.
Reminds me of the undead invasion prior to the Wrath of the Lich King expansion in WoW.
It's really great for meeting new people and forging new bonds.
I wish I could have played 1.0, i will always regret not having a good enough computer/internet connection for it, it kind of hurts honestly knowing that at every turn there is more stuff like this that I never got to experience just because I couldn't afford a monster computer and only had dialup internet x.x especially when I did infact own a physical copy of the game...
would be nice if they had streamlined the story and had it be a part of the current game atleast so that people who were unable to play it could do so now..
But yeah, this is amazing. It reminds me alot of besieged in XI, only on a massive scale. So jealous lol.. it would be nice if they do something like that again, maybe even just in the newly introduced areas in the new expansion.

That reminds me of when star wars galaxies and wow came out. I couldn't play because my internet sucked so bad (believe me I tried it was unusable)I wish I could have played 1.0, i will always regret not having a good enough computer/internet connection for it, it kind of hurts honestly knowing that at every turn there is more stuff like this that I never got to experience just because I couldn't afford a monster computer and only had dialup internet x.x especially when I did infact own a physical copy of the game...

Great post, really interesting read... tho it kinda makes 2.0 look like a boring version made for toddlers ._.
The main reason why the Party Finder is not working for the harder content and so many groups disband after few wipes is caused by the players who ignore the comments.
Getting to the phase XYZ once does not mean you are ready to join parties to do XYZ.
Parties should spend most of the time doing the phase that is written in the comment not trying to get there.

The way v1 came to a close was very well done, and I think many of us who played through that story remember it fondly.
But I've been watching some of my old v1 gameplay videos -- and it sure looks slow compared to 2.0 and beyond. You might even say it was closer to a turn-based game where you had more time between attacks to queue your next move (and sometimes it took a while to FIND your next move with the old interface) and watch the animation play out.
The motions felt slower, character movements had more weight, and it seemed more centered around individual attacks and lighting effects (but it was quite beautiful!).
Anyway, here are a few more photos. ^^
One of my favorites from (during) the White Raven confrontation.
And a wide shot of Mor Dhona and the Eorzean "Milky Way" as Dalamud neared.
