Please help me understand Roleplaying char vs non

'Walkup', at least as far as my understanding goes, basically means that person encourages other players to come up to them and start chatting to them in character (hence, 'walk up'). Because a stranger most likely would not know anything about that person's character story that player has written, it means the conversation is a complete blank, rather like walking up to a stranger in a bar.

Some players dislike it though, especially if they have long and detailed on-going stories they're currently acting out, walkup RP can kind of put a spanner in those works, but I quite like it as it helps to break the ice so to speak. But it's a personal choice really.

I can only imagine RP is as pretentious here as it was on WoW, lmao. Thank god I don't RP anymore, much rather just stick to writing.

While I do RP, the RPing done on this game is uh....kinda overwhelming. Not sure if I wanna deal with pretentious.

While it's nice they finally added a RP thingy that shows whether you RP or not, not being able to add a RP story (bio) to your profile so that the others can check it out is a bit useless. Other MMOs also have bios on top of the RP symbols.

Pretty sure it's fine that there isn't one. It'll force you to RP with these people to actually learn about them / give them a chance before you just "nope" them for w/e reason.

You can put a small one up on Lodestone. Has a character limit though. Dont remember what the limit was.
