Jute plant

I planted my jute and mandrakes and got a couple of jute when the mandrakes were ready to harvest but the jute didn't mature past plant size. I then planted more mandrakes and after 8 days still no mature jute plants to harvest. They just sit there saying they are doing well. I am afraid they will rot in the ground soon. A friend of mine said the rot happened with his onions. Anyone else have this issue?

If they are doing well then you are fine.

Just pull out any plants that are ready and replant if you want. You can get multiple yields with items planted next to Jute because it takes so long.

Items like Jute and Thav Onions take 10 earth days to become harvestable if you use no fertilizer at all. If his onions became rotten it's because he didn't tend to them. Tend time varies but I think the 10-days-to-mature plants require tending once every 16-18ish hours give or take. You can recover them twice if they are not completely dead and "have seen better days", after that they are beyond hope and just die.

The nice thing about jute is once you get 4 seeds you can get an almost unlimited supply by crossbreeding while you grow them. I have about 50 seeds and over 20 jute on my retainer and that's even after 2 full beds of 8 with no cross breeding and crafting a bunch of stuff.

^^this. Jute takes a lot of time. I have a round robin going on three plots for blood peppers. Those take forever to grow as well so I'm usually growing the peppers themselves in flower pots as well as 4 in the one plot. 10 peppers at a time so although the grow time is lengthly the reward is worth it. People love those minions.
