Please provide translator to anniversary's etc.

Chinese, Spanish and English are the three most common languages spoken. So please start translating the full events for us too.

I was really annoyed to find out that we had no proper translation for this event. This game wasn't just made for the Japanese people but time and time again you have left out EU and NA.

Yes the live letter was translated on the forums and had certain third parties translate it. Yet it doesn't feel the same in this day and age, we should be able to share on the jokes whilst watching the developers.
Instead we are left out in the cold watching walls of text being updated and totally ignored on other sections of the broadcast.

I thought they had a full localisation department for this and pride themselves on it. "Tokyo has grown from 2-3 employees to >40.
Consists of native speakers of, not just J&E, but FIGS.
Staff became specialised into different roles".

You do realise that text translators, and even bilingual speakers are not the same thing as doing on-the-spot translating?? it's a REALLY HARD job, very specialised, and they would likely need to bring in someone solely for events like this. Which would also be difficult if said translator is not familiar with all the game terms and details etc. And it would be extremely expensive.

It would be nice, but it's not as simple as "but they have staff who can speak E & J!"

I would really love that too.

Funny thing is, that everyone asking for a future translation of the streams on Twitch is getting burned by (insert random insult) shouting at him "learn japanese or shut up," "everyone speaking English is supposed to sleep, English audience is only 5% of people watching it."

C'mon, NA and the rest (EU) only make up 55% right now, certainly not enough for a live translation into an international language.

While I'd appreciate translations while it's happening, well,

You do realise that text translators, and even bilingual speakers are not the same thing as doing on-the-spot translating??
This so much. I used to have interpreting classes, which was just simply following a simple, general conversation about several business-related things (I think it was either EU level B1 or B2), I took a look into on-spot interpreting and... good lord. I was considered the very best of my class, with a wide vocabulary range, but that was something else entirely. I mean, it is not like German where you have to preemptively guess the verb due to our wicked sentence structuring, but even then I can't believe that on-spot interpreting, or even the interpreting we did, which was let someone finish their chunk of the convo, then interpret, another chunk, another interpretation, would be that feasible.

They have perfectly working translations being posted on the forums mostly as the things happen - why torment some on-spot interpreter who might not even know the material they're presented with? And no, don't give me that "but they should know if they get hired for that job!". Interpreters know a general range, and specialise in certain points (mine being business English back at school). Sure, they can work into the material, but for something like FFXIV with its terminology it would be rather... time-consuming to work into the material for 1 1/2 hours of interpreting.

Oh, and on-spot interpreting is so taxing most take a break after 20-30 minutes. It's not easy running two languages through you head at the same time and spit out grammatically correct stuff in another language than the one that's being spoken. I should know - I started slightly stuttering from constantly running English and German through my head at this point.

    Sorry for that rant there

Live interpreting is no joke. @_@ It's a skill that takes years to develop, and this is on top of being fluent in said languages.

That amazing live translator FFXV had during last year's Gamescom and the Uncovered event this year, is he a SE employee?
Can't we have him for this kind of stuff in FFXIV?
