    Qiqirn

Is there any explanation why they're here in Eorzea? You see them around the three major city-states, and aside from being obsessed with eggs, there's not much said about them or how they ended up from Aht Urhgan to greater Eorzea as bandits or merchants. Were they even in 1.0?

They really should address this in 4.0 and give them full beast-tribe treatment.

They were in 1.0; there was even one on the boat ride that started the game for Lominsan players.

As for history... lemme dig a moment.

    EDIT:
Nada. Like the other indigenous beastmen, their origins are glossed over. They currently have much larger presence outside of La Noscea than in 1.0, if I remember right, but they've clearly been around Eorzea for a long time. They've introduced invasive species by way of the egg trade, and it's common knowledge that their traits make them exceedingly good at certain niches of the culinary business, merchant supply lines, and especially the maintenance of ships.

But as for origins... Nada. Maybe Tanaka-san just liked them?

Just a quick gotcha there, as well - there is no Aht Urhgan in FFXIV. Whatever the origins of Qiqirn in this game, this game takes place in a completely different universe than FFXI, on a completely different planet with different landmasses and countries. Many of the monsters and beastmen are similar to critters from FFXI, but that's just part of the grand Final Fantasy tradition of carrying certain creatures from game to game. (Though, granted, it's a tradition they've abused to some degree in this game... All those ready-made textures and models from FFXI had to be a pretty huge temptation!)

They're rats. They probably stowed away on a ship or something, and just spread out from there taking over empty homes, Gobbie dens, et cetera. Some of them I would like nothing more than to give them a nice. Long. Bath. And, a good grooming... Especially, the ones at high bridge. I wonder how many times I would have to shampoo them to get them nice and clean?
