This is actually a reasonable and good change that I am okay with.

Can we please just wait and see how it works ingame?
First thought was: "plain stupid" and just a pvp fix effecting critical in pve... still...
Second thought was: "does it really play as i think it will be"... thats where i have some hope left it will NOT effect pve!
The Problem: SE is master in destroying hopes (proven in past)
I use legacy controls on my summoner and I'm kinda worried that it will affect my ability to use instant cast spells while I'm moving.
from my own experience auto attacks havent triggered me blowing up.What do you mean?
I know that time bomb is not about "gaze" but "action". so if you face away there and stand still, there won't be any action coming out from you to trigger the bomb. But with the new auto attack even though you face away, your auto attack won't stop anymore, resulting in the detonation of the bomb. So you have to sheath your weapon to do this, or run out of the range of auto attack and stand still to avoid death.
I don't know, my friend just died to to the detonation by auto attacking. Could be just input lag, but he's playing in JP and on JP server, so I don't think it's the case. But whatever the case, it said on the description about any action perform, so to be on the safe side, I always sheath my weapon and stand still.
Auto-attack System Changes
Currently when playing as a melee DPS, auto-attacks are executed while standing within 3m and facing within 90 degrees of your target. Since it’s easy for gaps to develop in DPS values because of this, we will be changing the way this functions so that auto-attack are executed for the range requirement only. The angle requirement will be removed and you will be able to execute auto-attacks regardless of where you’re facing.
Changes to Face Targeting System
The face target feature will become inaccessible while moving. This is in order to remove difference between different platforms. For casters, if the enemy moves your character will face the direction of the target’s current position. However, in situations where you need to face away from the target, players will not be able to simply turn around due to the auto-attack changes, therefore, you would either need to sheathe your weapon, or cancel targeting.
How these two combined sounds to me, only the melee range people will be affected by the auto-attack disengage change to avoid gaze attacks. Casters would need to do the same if they were in melee range.

So let me get this straight, they let players auto-attack from any angle now and are removing any mechanics that are related to the direction in which the player is facing?
Does that mean I can directly stare into an enemy's gaze attack if I have sheathed my weapon?
There's good and bad to this. Under the current system, if a melee wants to maximize their dps they have to lock target, else autoattacks cease when they are shifting from flank to rear. Locking target makes dodging aoes or noticing what's going on on the battlefield outside of close proximity to the boss (such as adds popping) difficult. So, on this front the adjustment is a positive. The negative, of course, is the whole untarget/sheath/turn away thing for dodging stuff like gaze attacks and blighted bouquet. Is this really an issue though? At the point in the game where these attacks exist, brds and mchs do not autoattack, and thus ranged players can just turn around like we've always done. Melee players need to take a step or two away from the mob and do nothing. Getting out of autoattack range is only a couple steps. There's no reason to drop target and sheath. And since these players will no longer be playing with a target lock executing this maneuver is just as fast as the unlock and turn movement we're accustomed to. In the end, this is a "wait and see" situation. This has all been rather poorly described, so we're gonna have to see it in action before we can make some definitive judgments on whether it's a good or bad thing.
I think we will replace move backward with a makro...
Just for the notes: Many casters (including healers) are auto attacking in savage!
