I agree that misguided is probably the best - and most interesting - bet rather than DARK EVIL LIGHT GOOD. As I've said in the past, I think the FFXI Altana in WotG and Etro in XIII are both very good examples of what might be going on here. Altana loved Her children so much that She almost destroyed spacetime and the multiverse in order to protect them . So She does wrong in Her desperate attempt to not do wrong and give the best life She can to Her children.

Well-intentioned Gods causing more problems is a trope used repeatedly in this series.

I would be very surprised if the story ended up as black and white as some people would like to believe.
Then again, I was completely wrong about how simple the solution to Estinihogg was so I could futilely be hoping that SE is catering to more of an adult fanbase than the shounen crowd.
