Aye, you could tell by the architecture in the first PR shot of the Masked man - distinctive pattern on the top that's not recycled as often. Not a bad place to hold a meeting, really. You've got Little Ala Mhigo down the road, and the Corpse Brigade right next to it, and you get to invoke the whole Scales of Judgment thing. I wonder if he chose it for any specific reason.

I'm not sure why I didn't put it together before now, but the suspiciously-well-funded aspect of the Masks might not be so weird at all. They need not be official, they need not be legitimate... depending on how much of the Crystal Braves' and Lolorito's coin Ilberd was able to sneak through the disbanding...

    Just another angle to consider.

Huh... I took that speech to be nothing more than him rallying his people... They don't actually have a special power, but they're Ala Mhigan... He wasn't saying "I have something special!", he was addressing the crowd, they all have something special... Could always be a Primal, but for now I find it more likely that he is just talking about their heritage... Might actually be another reason Wilred had to die though... He had the good sense not to summon Rhalgr in the end, if Ilberd was planning the same, Wilred would certainly object... Depends whether they straight up killed Wilred for looking into things, or whether they tried to convince him to join them... A Primal wouldn't be the only reason Wilred would object of course, plus having a Primal opens the option of tempering rather than murder...

I wonder... Weren't the aether readings strange in the area we found him? Nothing ever really came from that... I think many of us figured it was just something related to Odin, but what if that oddity was caused by the method Ilberd used to take out Wilred? Doesn't really add up, considering he was kind of a pushover in Halatali... He doesn't seem to have any special power, at that point anyway... Fairly sure he is just stoking the flames of nationalism with that speech...

Not sure they have the budget for that many boss fights in a single expac, but a story arc where we get to fight summoned versions of The Twelve would be pretty neat.

I would doubt Ildred is dumb enough to try summoning Rhalgr. Betrayer status notwithstanding, he spent enough time around the scions to know that primals are Bad News.

The vibe I'm getting is more along the lines of what we saw with Ultima. Was it the gamerescape interview where Koji said the Heart of Sabik would be returning as an important plot point soon? A handy primal-dominating artifact, probably made of auracite, that Ilberd would have been able to read the top secret reports on.

Yes, apparently, but Nael's claim was more in the form of a library and estate rather than royal eyes (which we never see). Either way, Royal families can get big, so one doesn't rule out the other.

I'm with you on this. I've been on the lookout for evidence of Dark-aspected auracite (Black Auracite?), as (back in the Praetorium) Lahabrea called it a holy stone; set off all the right alarms. And compared to the introduction and behavior of White Auracite (plus Unukalhai's history), it all feels like it might be going in the same direction.

While everyone is curious as to the MSQ's significance, has it been brought up at all that Alexander looks totally different when he's first encountered in A12 (assuming that's Alexander at all, of course)?

I'm not entirely sure what this would imply (again, assuming that this indeed Alex in some degree) but I thought it was an interesting observation at least.

The trailer shows him later transitioning into his full-sized form.

So one can assume that what you fight initially is something of an egi...

Huh. My first thought after listening to the Masked Man's words (and then going back and listening again) was, "And this is what a Paragon is like."

Just screamed to me of Ascian manipulations. Which makes sense from a strategic standpoint. If the Ascians want to back off, lick their wounds, and prep for the Warrior of Light fighting back, then keeping him/her busy in the meantime would be good.

So have the Ala Mhigans do a primal summoning. Have them do it out in the open, in full view of the Garlean forces. Emperor Varis might consider Thordan to be a one-off only-once-in-a-blue-moon thing, but a second go exposes the fact that the humes of Eorzea can summon primals, and that is one thing that the Empire has a firm stance about. Kill everyone who can.

I have suspicions that discoveries from the Warring Triad will also help fuel Garlean aggression, but I think I need to play Sophia's storyline to be certain.

Maybe he just transforms during the fight and it is two different phases.
