How this 180 on the Allagan Luminous Surcoat happened, baffles me, which is why I am asking... have you created anything better? Has it been judged and won the competition? No? Didn't think so.

You obviously don't work in fashion or any other field where you regularly, publicly display your work. If you saw any of the mannequins I've ever dressed in my career, or outfits I picked for others, you would have an opinion about them, whether you could create better looks or not. Everyone does. That's how people work. You don't need to make the salary I do to judge my work when you see it just like nobody here needs to be able to design a "better tank armor" to judge the winning look when they see it.

That was an issue I had because the person in question thought they knew better than the judging group, so for the fact that they thought better, I wanted to know if they had anything better. You can have an opinion, but when an opinion has no backbone, I cannot take that as valid criticism or judgement of a design. It's preposterous to just take a glance, then just say it's boring, and end it at that.

It's not "knowing better" to have a different opinion... I too think the winning entry is a bit boring considering this was a rare opportunity to add something to the game that doesn't look like armor we already have, and thus I disagree with the judging team. It is what I personally think, and in no way am I or anyone else saying anything bad about the judges. Read more than just this one reply you replied to, there have been enough people stating exactly why so many think the winner looks boring, it is not nessecairy to state it again this many times, and if you still have a problem with that, adress that and not the fact that they did not draw a finalist themselves.

Well, a simple opinion is still an opinion. I find the winning design boring because it's just a recolored silhouette of the HA Coat of Fending. I personally think designing new Allagan gear could have gone so many ways- you could have had exaggerated shoulders, or had some kind of glowing bodysuit with larges pieces of plate mail attached, or added pulsing tubing/wiring so that it looks like you can see the aether powering the armor; I feel there are many more ways the designer could have been creative when using Allagan technology. And, really, as far as innovation and creativity goes compared to the other entrants, this one feels the most flat. It's not inspired enough to be exciting, it has so many borrowed ideas that I feel like I've already seen it.

But then again I know I couldn't design a better set of armor overall because designing armor/plate mail is not my forte. I just know that compared to things I've already seen in this game, and just saw in the contest, my opinion is that the winning look is boring. And just thinking about it, this is probably the kind of opinion you were looking for in the first place. XD
