Quite disappointed (but not really surprised) about the winning entry. It's still a good looking one though but with so many good entries, did we really need a "rework" of the high allagan armor?

I guess the answer is yes "Sigh" well I guess I know I won't be looking forward to the next armor.

And the winner was inspired by soup cans. :/

I'd prefer the PSO2 looking one, the tribal one looked nice too and Zero Signal's looked the most original. But yeah, immersion I suppose.

I played Phantasy Star Online/Universe/2 since 2000 and never really stopped so i would love to see many of the costumes and bosses from PSO2 come to FFXIV, in return for Odin <3
Gosh, how much i would love to fight Dark Falz Luther, with this time-altering abilities, rewinds and time freezes, in FFXIV!

But this was meant to be a contest about creating a set of tank armor, so taking an existing PSO2 set, with a couple diff accessories, recoloring it, and giving it a few extra lines, does not really seem a fair thing to do.
And i am surprised it even arrived as far as it did, given that.

And the generic soup can armor with little to no creativity is fine, to his their own. If you want to see more of the same ol'stuff then good for you. I for one like creativity, which is once again the reason why I don't participate in these. Looks different than everything else? Not worth mentioning. Looks the same as everything? must have it.

I was just specifically pointing out that nearly-copies should not make it to the finals.

My entry have nothing to do with the Phantasy Star Series. Its highly based on the existing Ironworks-gear (which is my all time favorite in FFXIV). Please read my post for some detailed information. If there is an existing or similiar design in PSO2 already, I would like to see those designs. I m really curious, if my design is already taken in another game. I m still wondering, why so many people named it "PSO2 gear" (maybe because of the cross event with FFXIV, who knows) xD

Oh... and btw: Its nearly impossible to create a completely "new" tank gear, because any gearset could look similiar to existing designs from the same or other games. When it doesnt like FFXIV or PSO2, it will definitely look like a copy from Aion, Tera, WoW, Blade and Soul or [insert random F2P MMORPG here] ; )

The Allagan Surcoat is fine, and looked tanky enough. I don't see the hubbub of it being boring...

oh look another good but simple and easy design won the contest i hope most of the runners up enjoyed making the design id be a little upset after that

quick edit... best part is like they say some would be too difficult to implement then say the winner will be difficult to implement. should probably leave that out

It's funny because back when the finalists were announced the Allagan Luminous Surcoat was one of the most popular if not THE most popular. Now that it won, everyone dislikes it. wtf ?

I myself find it absolutely gorgeous, it's coherent, it looks like Allagan gear but it's a different set than what we had with Allagan and High Allagan. The similar vibes are normal, it IS Allagan themed. But I think that it's a good thing, it entirely fits the universe and it's gonna fit all 3 tanks, unlike some entries which were much more Paladin-looking or Warrior-looking.
