    Tiamat: Meracydian, Dragon, Allagan Lore

Lately, I have been curious about some lore related stuff involving Tiamat. I mean, she's just there, trapped on Azys Lla of her own volition. We can't really speak to her after completing the main story/recap quest. But it's Tiamat! Come on, she must have a lot of stories of her past, history, ect. It would be very interesting to have quests from her or a node in the area that gave more lore and history of the Meracydian's (Dragon and otherwise), Tiamat, Bahamut, and the Allagan's.

How does Tiamat feel about discussing history related content? Does the presence of mortals bring her any comfort? Do they upset her? I mean, besides if they come up to hail her riding a Twintania mount and dressed in replica Allagan garb. That might be in poor taste. Does she just want to be left in peace?

What would she do if someone did try and liberate her? Between the Meracydian dragons left in the Coil's, and the ones on Azys Lla, are there any between them who do still believe that Bahamut's primal can bring about some form of salvation? The Meracydian dragons are just as capable of flight as any other dragon, right? What keeps them on Azys Lla? Loyalty/respect to their mother?

The Meracydian dragons that were imprisoned are lost, mentally. They have naught but madness and rage and there will never be aught but madness and rage again. Of course, that's just what we're told - but we have little reason to disbelieve it. Letting them die with the disabling of the coils was seen as a mercy by the Leveilleurs.

And those on Azys Lla aren't in much better shape, having been subjected to genetic manipulation, torture, and isolation. Add 5,000 years of uncontrolled reproduction (and I doubt even parenting styles of the first generation made for healthy offspring). The nodes and journals, likewise, call their deaths a mercy and an end to centuries of suffering.

Tiamat ... Please look forward to it?

From what she's said, she mostly just wants to be left alone; her eternal imprisonment in isolation her punishment for Primal Bahamut.

I don't think her story is done yet. Not sure what role she still has to play; we could free her and let her return to Meracydia (after getting some revenge on some Ascians), or we may give her the mercy of death.

I'd like to think there's more planned for her than just "by the way I exist, but I'm not going to let myself factor into the main plot at all." Then again, that's pretty much been the entire Allagan MO since we took out Ultima Weapon.

Hopefully, the Triad quests are going to start wrapping up Allagan loose ends for some sort of climactic resolution in Ala Mhigo or Garlemald.

I might be wrong on this since my history on the Allagan Empire is abit rusty.

As you know Bahamut and Tiamat are lovers and the offspring of Midgarrsomr. They populated Mysida but the Allagan Empire went to war with them, Bahamut got killed and with the grief Tiamat was felling I think it was either the Ascians or The Empire used that grief to bring back a primal Bahamut but not in the way she remembers him or ment to be thus Xander the emperor at the time imprisoned Bahamut and snared Tiamat and she feels it's her fault for even bring back, well to her, primal that looks like her lover but nothing else so in a way she prob let her self be captured for punishment.

But that is the rough story behind it. I too would like to see Tiamat free, in what way? well.....Be nice if we had a choice to either kill and or let her go and never see her again.

Tiamat is a defeated woman. The fate that await such sort of characters is not the kindest.

At present, the best course of action for all parties is to leave Tiamat alone. It would take something rather extraordinary to rouse her, and it would have to be said from Midgardsormr' mouth. Perhaps prevent another from following her and Bahamut's mistakes.

Honestly, with Garleans slowly taking over parts of Azys Lla and researching/reverse-engineering Allagan tech there it would make sense that they'd try to take control of her to experiment, etc. But that doesn't seem like it'll happen now; frankly, I no longer want to deal with any of the Midgardsomnr's 1st brood now that the Dragonsong War has concluded

If memory serves right, when we visit her, Midgardsormr asked her why she stays there, because she should be able to free herself from the restrains. She answers by telling she is punishing herself for what she did to Bahamut. So Even if we were able to free her, she would just stay there and do nothing. The only thing that could make her move, like someone mentioned, is for something big to happen that she could relate to and Midgardsormr managing to convince her that helping would be a better attunment than staying there.

During the journey of remembrance/recap post 3.3 it sounded very final that she'd never do anything but sit there to punish herself. I'd love for her to do something but I've already given up all hope. A Tiamat on a floating continent... it was so perfect... All we needed was a namedrop of Lufenia and an Enforcement Droid named Warmech...

Part of the problem is the very same thing that keeps humans from interacting well with dragons in the first place: Their immortal perspective. Bahamut may have passed away thousands of years ago, but to Tiamat it might as well have been yesterday. She's barely even begun to mourn him. It's the same reason Nidhogg is still so pissy; humans might as well have pried poor Ratatoskr's eyes out just yesterday, as far as he's concerned. (Well, that and the fact that he was kind of a dick even before that whole mess happened.) We can only optimistically hope that Tiamat's pain might dull to the point where she can function once more sometime before the sun goes out... But if that happens, it will still likely be well outside the scope of this game.

That's not to say that I wouldn't mind seeing something, some major event that's able to pull her out of her funk, for a little while at least. After all, even humans can set aside grieving for a loved one, even one recently departed, if the situation is dire enough.
