Is Bard still getting the shaft for groups despite their recent buffing?

I've recently come across a couple ppl on my server who, despite the brd buff of 3.3 iirc the patch number, they would still pick a mch over brd because of the few hundred dps more a mch can bring to the table.
I am asking you all out there, is brd still getting the shaft on your servers despite SE recently buffing them? If that is the case, then perhaps SE buff them even further to be on par? I don't know how things are going on other servers so I'm just curious.
If the group's overall dps is there, then it shouldn't matter if the ranged is brd or mch. I'm curious what you all have to say on my question on this post header and what not.

Well, if you are looking for a static filled with people who have brain and aren't afraid of using it, you will have no problem finding it.
At this moment bard is doing extremely fine and I haven't encountered or heard of any bard being turned down because of his job.
Of course we are talking about bards who can pull their weight.

What I have to say? Current tier is designed in such way that good BRD will put out more damage than good melees (talking about DRG and NIN) in most of the floors.

People that are good at MCH aren't too hard to find. People who are good at BRD or even decent at it, are very rare. At least that's my opinion on it.

I would want to know how bad their other dps are in their group that they would have to pick a mch over a brd just to make up the lacking dps are because if the other dps in the group are where they should be, then it shouldn't matter if the ranged is brd or mch.

That isn't how this works, stop thinking like this.

More DPS is more DPS, if two jobs can perform the same function but one has vastly superior numbers, then serious players will obviously go with the one that is performing better, and it does not in any way speak down on the other members of the group. This is something healer DPS nay sayers would come up with.

Just wanted to start a conversation, not saying anything but something to get one going. I don't know who plays on other servers so I was bored and curious to find out. My group disbanded due to burnout and I'm looking for one for 3.4 and the topic came up on my server in an ls so I thought to post it here and see what others have to say.

This is hard to hear since you and I are on the same server. Both MCH and BRD are fine regardless of who you take.

I haven't heard of anyone so far looking for only MCH and there have been PFs that are looking for either roles for statics, so the ones that are thinking BRDs are worse off right now are foolish, misinformed, and probably not a group you want to be a part of from the start..

One example of where I heard this was from someone in my own fc who said unless a brd could match or surpass a mch's numbers, they would pick a mch. Made me wonder if they see brd still as being that weak in raid situations. It's because of what he said in ts that I got to wondering if that was a general mindset or just the few ppl on our server I know who've said it recently in fc/ls's, not to me personally, but in general conversations so I made this post to see if it's just a personal mindset or what.

it seems more like... if you have a bard and machinist both applying to a group for same slot. Machinist will tend to be the easy choice

Bards do have some advantages though; Foe requiem can do a lot of work when a group has a caster and a dpsing healer and warden's paeon is like a warrior's best friend if used well

I agree with you there. I had a war and I used WP on him when he needed it and he loved it.
