    Anyway, on topic though, I think if ALL dungeons need to be instanced, then at least SOME should not require prerequisites to enter. Some should be public and available for all to enter, and not require parties or particular levels to go in. And not be timed either... I like EXPLORATION. What better to explore than a dungeon?? NOPE, they're all on timers!! This is my angry face: >C

    well if they already said SH are still going to be available no real reason to not instance dungeons, the way SH works is pretty decent and they could just expand upon that (first few gates are 8 man-able with adequate rewards, middle gates tougher and could go smoother with 2 teams, last gates be tough as hell and be "raid" difficulty to farm with epic gear) I can see them becoming "open world" group content with some tweaks.
    A solution to make instanced content more ls/freecompany friendly could be to only allow same server groups to enter the "hard" difficulty version of instances. I would like seeing the planned 24 man content have three tiers like WoWs dragon soul raid currently does ( "looking for raid" weakest gear rewards and you que to it and its cross server, and normal and heroic you need to make the raid groups in server and both offer greater rewards with heroic being the best rewards)
    think this is just another one of those "well have to wait and see" deals, because there is a lot of room for innovation and SE so far has shown itself to be creative.

    i think for the sake of clarity id like to listen to what the OP considers a "dungeon" too. I am used to the wow term so to me a dungeon is a scripted and instance event taking place within a zone that's only accessible by the party' but guessing the OP might mean things like the citadel and crawlers nest in FF 11, or even shapowaddafackitsname in FF 14. With the maps being revamped i can see them making castles, catacombs and other "labyrinth-esque" areas were the new quests might send you to infiltrate and destroy NMs and other mobs.
    I have personally not seen SE post anything about not having these kinda environments within the open world.

    I just hope Yoshi dosn't consider places like the mines or caves in Thanalan as dungeons.

    We need places like that.
