There is a place for both.

Of course there is, but Yoshi doesn't seem to keen on using both.

Thus in general, please consider that many of them will eventually become an instance area.

Yoshida in his current plans doesn't seem to overly care about openworld content. It's up to the community to make sure he understands that we want both not a heavy lean on instanced areas.
