And, BTW, that's the whole point of this concept. Aren't you tired of walking in to town and seeing EVERY SINGLE CNJ wearing the EXACT same gear as you? The less "desirable/enjoyable" we make NM camping, the more likely we are to distinguish one person from another.

Hell, I sometimes based my party invites on the way a person was equipped. If everyone wants to camp the NMs, or if it's not that difficult to do, then EVERYONE will have the drops....regardless of the drop rates.
This is why the open world aspect of things falls in on itself by the people arguing for it.

You don't care about it being open world for immersion and exploration. You care so you can try and block people out of content and gloat with an elitist attitude when you have a drop they don't.

Base your party around what drops they already have? People like you made XI a miserable experience.

If the HNM pop rates were something like exactly 21 hours or such (as ThePatriarch described), would not every spawn have hundreds of players present? After all, with such a precise spawn time, a fan site could easily project all spawn times for the HNM for weeks/months. These are just my musings, I don't have a ton of experience with other mmos. Does anyone know a case where this type of system worked well?

what if the entire time after the spawn dies, every kill in that area is counted to the hate pull on this nm's next spawn. and with everyone there ..players or companies or party groups with most damage gets first shot at killing it.

There are more people on FFXI right now than FFXIV.

Open world works just fine, and I'm willing to be we will be seeing some of it in this game shortly.

Open world content works great in many situations, for many players, in many games. EQ for example is still successful with it, as well as having had tons of successful open world content since 1999. (just wanted to mention a game that was not GW, WoW, or FFXI).

As much as I can appreciate where Sephrick is comming from, It seems he refuses to attept to see where we are comming from. He claims he is for both then refuses to accept it on certain levels. and everytime someone makes a new post, or a new poster joins the discussion, he tends to regergitate the same arguement. As I said, as much as I can appreciate where he is comming from, its really getting to be old hat.

lol I wasn't an a$$hole about it. I just mean that gear MATTERS. If someone was level 65, and still wearing a bunch of purchasable, poorly statted gear, then it said a lot about them.

And I don't want to block ppl out of content AT all. I just don't want to put it on "easy mode;" it completely underminds the concept of goal-oriented motivation. There's no incentive to get good gear, b/c everyone has it anyway.

It turns the game into this pointless, effortless system of completing content as quickly and as efficiently as possible. It's dull as hell, man.
