				Sometimes silence speaks volumes.
In the five months this thread has been getting bumped by a handful of people, if SE had something to say other than...
...I'm sure they'd have said it.The people have spoken. As such, we'll be operating under the premise that new PvE content, such as dungeons containing sought-after loot, will be instanced. By instancing content in this way, we'll be able to reduce claim wars and counter-camping and all that. There's also the added merit of enabling the level design team to work with a clear theme in mind, and create much more engaging and challenging content.
Oh, sorry, I am too lolPlease elaborate. Why were the poorly designed?
Long respawn timers, and low drop rate to make sure that not everyone had that piece of gear. Getting claim was exciting, and the thrill of killing before rage timer, etc, imo was awesome.
Albeit, one thing I hated about that certain NM was the timer. No windows, just 3 hours of hoping you didn't lose claim. I loved camping NM's, But I am all for no long windows, just 1 pop chance and no wasted time. or something like that
I am an XI fanatic, and love all things HNM, but I'll take an arrow to the knee before I camp another 5-6 hour NM like DI, or Sandworm. Camping those against other LS's is the biggest waste of time ever.
When I said poorly designed, I didn't mean that they were poorly designed in "every way." I just meant in regards to the windows like you mentioned.
For me, it was Argus in particular that I hated (even if you knew when he popped, you could spend up to 12 hours waiting for him).
The bird guy, Simurgh, w/ his 3 hour window, really pissed me off too (mainly cuz you needed several GOOD ppl to kill him before raging, and it's a pain in the a$$ for your friends to sit around for 3 hours to help you get a "novelty" item).
So, that's all I meant about the poorly designed NMs. I absolutely LOVE the idea of having NMs with "30 hour," "24 hour," "1 hour," and "5 hour," pop times. I just don't like the hyphenated versions :P (18-30 hours, 21-24 hours, 1-4 hours, etc.)
This, this, and this again.Oh, sorry, I am too lol

Cut the windows and make it a 1 time pop, even if it has to be a 21 hour wait period. This way no one time zone can monopolize, and you wont have to wait around for several hours just to lose claim.
Bring Quality Notorious Monsters to FFXIV!

Ya, I forgot about that; SE definitely needs to take that into consideration, when picking the spawn times (don't let any, one, timezone exploit the spawn times). I don't mind competing with ppl who are willing to "lose sleep" just to keep camping an NM they got the ToD on; but I don't want to camp against ppl who are just there b/c it's ALWAYS convenient for them.
Anyway, the NM system in XI, with some minor tweaks is going to DRASTICALLY improve gameplay, for EVERYONE. With those kinds of pop times, we can justify the decision to incorporate "end-game items/armor" into *general open-world content, rather than just into the dungeons.
Edit: And in case any of you fail to understand why that's such a significant addition, it's for this reason:
Not only does it help distinguish players from one another, in terms of competitiveness (hardcore vs. casual), it also gives us all another way to be UNIQUE (instead of a mass of characters with different COLOR gear, and predetermined class combinations for their jobs).
Not to mention, it just gives us something else to do....other than lvl and "fight bosses."

i'd say instead of afk waiting for pops to turn areas where the nm's are to pop like those leves where you need to defend that position and mobs keep coming at you. that way hords of mobs keep swaying in and need to be killed till the nm pops. no afk nonsense, i'm not here to afk, i'm here to play. not here to be outclaimed by bots neither. but i do want my hnm's and nm's in a non instance too. so make us work for it and give us fast repop timers and bring back gear with very low drop rates.
The problem with that plan is that, for one, some ppl LIKE afk'n. We're not all here to play a game of wack-a-mole. If you want something to do while you wait, then kill random mobs.i'd say instead of afk waiting for pops to turn areas where the nm's are to pop like those leves where you need to defend that position and mobs keep coming at you. that way hords of mobs keep swaying in and need to be killed till the nm pops. no afk nonsense, i'm not here to afk, i'm here to play. not here to be outclaimed by bots neither. but i do want my hnm's and nm's in a non instance too. so make us work for it and give us fast repop timers and bring back gear with very low drop rates.
And, BTW, that's the whole point of this concept. Aren't you tired of walking in to town and seeing EVERY SINGLE CNJ wearing the EXACT same gear as you? The less "desirable/enjoyable" we make NM camping, the more likely we are to distinguish one person from another.
Hell, I sometimes based my party invites on the way a person was equipped. If everyone wants to camp the NMs, or if it's not that difficult to do, then EVERYONE will have the drops....regardless of the drop rates.
that's what i mean, its easy for people to afk and wait around for pops, it's boring and that might put some players off, but forcing them to be there the entire time is way more punishing and weeds out even more players. lol.
